Shia LaBeouf is parting ways with the producers of Orphans “due to creative differences” and will not be continuing with the production, according to a statement from the show’s public relations office. The statement adds that a replacement for the role of Treat will be announced shortly. LaBeouf was added to the cast in December in what would have been his first Broadway role. Orphans, by Lyle Kessler and directed by Daniel Sullivan, stars Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge in a story about two brothers living in a Philadelphia row house. The production is still scheduled to begin previews March 19 with opening night set for April 7 at the Schoenfeld Theatre.

Once upon a time Shia LaBoeuf was a sweet kid with acting chops who was grateful to make money acting (Project Greenlight days). I’m sure he has turned into a monster post-Transformers etc. The producers will be thrilled to see the back of him.
Very interesting especially when one has the opportunity to be on stage with Alec Baldwin. Apparently, this production does ‘not complete’ Shia and Broadway.
I’m guessing leaving “due to creative differences” means he was replaced.
He is so still trying to find his way after being typecast and lambasted for Transformers as well as the inappropriate comments he made about the god-awful Indiana Jones IV.
I do respect that he is trying, but every time I see him in a role (that rum runners movie comes to mind) I just see him. He never seems to disappear into his roles. The bit part he had in I Robot is the same character that was in Transformers that was in Indian Jones IV.
How could this be? He was so good in Indiana Jones (2008).
Saw Joe Stern’s Matrix Theater’s production of Orphans years ago and it was brilliant. Glad to see it go to Broadway.
Translation: “Wait, I gotta do this crap EIGHT TIMES A WEEK???”
