With Saturday Night Live airing way past bedtime for most of Justin Bieber constituency, the NBC late-night sketch show did not get a boost from the young pop star’s stint as host and musical guest last night. SNL averaged a 4.9/12 in the metered-market households, down 4% from the show’s most recent original hosted by Adam Levine. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night’s Saturday Night Live drew a 2.7/12 share in adults 18-49, also down 4%.

January Jones and Robert De Niro have nothing on him. He’s the worst host ever. So horrendous I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.
the worst host ever is still Nancy Kerrigan.
I can’t disagree with you. It was painful to watch Kerrigan because I liked her at the time, but yeah, she was awful. Very wooden; no personality. Even with material tailored for a non-actor, it was still a bad performance.
I thought he was really good…compared to the older and more confident Adam Levine, Justin was poised and pretty funny…and didn’t need to constantly read his lines from Q-cards like Levine. He’s only 19, give the kid a break. Oh, and he is really buff.
It’s should no be a surprise that the ratings were poor. He’s not funny, he can’t sing. The only reason he is popular is because he’s cute. ( To 13 year old girls!)
It’s true what they say; never send a boy to do a man’s job.
Yes perhaps SNL should start remembering it’s a comedy show and as such have comedians or comic actors as hosts. With a lot of their weekly cast being new, surely utilizing comedy veterans and comedies newest stars as hosts is the way to go.
SNL has been having non-comedeians host since season one. Dramatic actors, athletes, politicians, old ladies – It’s part of what made/makes the show interesting.
Those first seasons had great improv comedians that could work anything into a great skit. The current generation just doesn’t have that depth.
That’s a great idea.
Looks like I didn’t miss much on SNL! I haven’t watched a whole episode in years. I rather watch old clips of the original cast members like Chevy Chase, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. I liked Dana Carvey and John Hartman during the early 1990′s as well.
John Hartman was great.
Oh you are so right. John Hartman was great. Mike Farley too.
I liked Phil Hartman, myself.
And that Gilda Ratman! She was quite a looker!
Don’t forget about Chris Myers! Loved him on SNL. Schwing! Yeah, baby, yeah!
So surprised that a person whose target audience is long since in bed by the time SNL airs and who is no way attractive to SNL’s targeted audience didn’t draw a bigger percentage of the audience.
I powered through to see if there were any good sketches but so much of the Bieber related stuff was cringe worthy, partly because it was bad and partly because Bieber’s fans had clearly taken up a vocal chunk of the audience, screeching any time he did anything pandering.
Of course it was down, what adult wants to watch this no talent screech and pull his shirt up. This kid has zero talent, not even as a singer. No idea what SNL was thinking and worse, I’ve lost pretty much all respect for teenage girls. His singing is like nails on a chalk board. WTF! seriously.
I could have SWORN that was Hilary Swank pretending to be Justin Beiber hosting SNL … I just thought it was the work of an amazing actress playing an atrociously UNfunny miscast SNL Host ..
LMFAO..Why anyone is surprised by this..he is not interesting..not a good host material..SNL will get it right some day.
So incredibly unfunny! He seemed like a egotistical brat reading cue cards! Please…just go away.
I think it was ok. Not bad, nor great
The kid’s a singer, not an actor. Whatever his appeal, his talents don’t include comedy.
I tuned in to see who was hosting and if it might be funny…. nope. Lasted about a minute into looking at Beeber and had to turn it the fuck off. Thank gawd for OnDemand.
Nobody who watches snl gives a damn about Justin Bieber. This was the worst decision Lorne Michaels has ever made.
i want to know why New Kids stopped touring with BSB and are now going out with 98 Degrees and Boyz to Men.
He sucked! The worst! You could see the cast struggling with him. He just threw off the timing on the entire show.
I avoided it once I heard he was hosting. Stick to signing to 12 year old girls bro.
If that’s true, at least give him credit for learning ASL and caring about his deaf audience members!
I must say the more I hear and see the kid, the more I’m starting to dislike him. He just seems way too full of himself n trying way too hard to go from the little boy with the lesbian haircut too an adult artist
I thought JB did pretty well considering the material he had to work with. Maybe these young superstars need to disappear when they are 17 and re-appear when they are 28 — the guys, that is. Just thinking…..
Not surprising, his fan base has to be in bed by 8:00.
By 8? Wtf is your problem? He did great and NO he doesnt just have “Little 12 year old girls” as fans. His fans grow up with him and are mostly 14-22 Years old.
Are they ever going to cancel this slop once and for all? I’m probably guessing when it reaches year 40, which might be the best time to retire this shitfest of a show.
Can’t Imagine what Lorne Michaels (or the Beebe’s supposedly genius manager) was thinking on this one. The kid is a colossal turn-off to anyone with a brain, or over the age of 9. In this setting he was revealed as the supremely ordinary kid most already know he is. Can’t sing, can’t act, off-putting demeanor and unfunny as hell.
Showing off his little boy abs during that decoy sketch made my stomach churn. Shame on you, Lorne.
Anything this kid is on has bad ratings.
He sounds terrible live. He has less vocal talent than Britney Spears & Jennifer Lopez. He also can’t dance. He’s good at being an annoying Mike the situation from Jersey shore wannabe.
I dont buy his albums to listen to his face. He has an incredible voice. If he didn’t he wouldn’t be this successful. He is the 1st EVER in History to have 5 #1 Albums before his 19th Birthday. Hmmm 5 #1′s? They reach #1 because people buy them to enjoy them.
Looking forward to Christoph Waltz next weekend. I have a feeling he’ll do great in this sort of a gig.
Taylor Lautner was worse.
