Here are four top series creators — Modern Family and Just Shoot Me‘s Steve Levitan, Lost‘s Damon Lindelof, CSI‘s Anthony Zuiker and Heroes, Crossing Jordan and Touch‘s Tim Kring — sharing what they really think about pilot season, network notes, agents, Nielsen ratings as well as Nikki Finke and Deadline. The word association quiz conducted by Young Hollywood during last week’s NATPE confab, prompted answers ranging from “powerful” and “necessary” to “irrelevant” and “abominable.” Here is the video:

Question for the panel: HOW COME THERE ARE NO WRITERS OF COLOR SELLING PILOTS?! WHY IS IT THAT AMONG THIS PANEL BEING WHITE AND MALE MEANS YOU GET TO SELL PILOTS?! ALSO, HOW MANY WRITERS OF COLOR HAVE YOU STAFFED IN COMPARISON TO WHITE MALE WRITERS?!
Elia, your comment is absolutely irrelevant to this video. What does reacting to Pilot Season, Network Notes, Ratings etc., have to do with race? Just curious…and why the caps?
If this panel is a representation of Pilot Season, then only male white writers sell pilots. And if you look at the demographics for writers who sell pilots, it is white and male.
The caps are for EFFECT.
so telling that Steve Levitan says ratings are good .. since he gets good ratings. and Tim Kring says ratings are irrelevant .. Touch couldn’t get good ratings!
