At least Beyoncé didn’t lip-sync for “Love on Top” or “Crazy In Love” or “Halo” or with Destiny’s Child for “Bootylicious” and “Independent Woman” or “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”. But I was underwhelmed. You? Just not enough whiz, bang, wow factor surrounding such talent compared to the shows put on for Prince, Madonna, and U2. Something needs to liven up this runaway Super Bowl XLVII – and quick:

It was better than Madonna’s freaky dancing last year. Beyonce got the job done, and it was good to see Destiny’s Child back together.
Only thing missing was a stripper pole! About as good as last years. Ugh

I agree. Whoever was responsible for handling the sound for the performances needs to be FIRED!! The volume on those mics were weak!!

I completely disagree. I’m not a big fan of hers (though I have tons of respect) and I thought this was the best half time show in a long time. Are you telling me you preferred Madonna or U2 or The Who or Janet Jackson or The Stones…? They were all bad and the productions were a mess. Beyonce sang her ass off and the production was just as good. I also don’t give a crap if she lip synced at the inauguration – because she was great. And no, my last name is not Knowles.
I found her fat legs as disturbing as her bad voice.

She was great. Hard to do the halftime show and she brought tremendous energy and great visuals. Also nice that she brought out Destiny’s Child.
I think it was a bit of a mess. She rushed through every song, sang things she shouldn’t have for this event (Love on Top, Halo), she chose a song nobody knows (she knows what we were looking for in this), she brings back Destiny’s Child and it looks like they rehearsed 5 minutes before for the first time. This part also has dubious choices, Independent Women over Say My Name? Seriously B?
The moment everybody was waiting for was Single Ladies, and bringing the DC girls was amazing, but then they rushed the thing, even if the coolest moment was during the dance with all those women which looked amazing and instead of dedicating a good chunk of time to this moment…she cuts to sing Halo? Seriously? HALO? And I use the term “sing” lightly, as usual lots of pre-recorded vocals and lots of screaming.
Could’ve been much more focused and tighter. Yes, she’s Beyonce and anything she does is above many people, but not the recent Super Bowl performances.

NO Beyonce did not SUCK… It was a bit of a let down ONLY because of the HYPE I think. She did a GREAT JOB. THANK YOU BEYONCE. I enjoyed every moment.
Nikki – Usually I agree with your opinions but in this case you are way way way off base – or maybe just out of touch. For a whole generation of Gen Y, Millennials, and even some younger and/or plugged-in Gen X’ers, Beyonce and Destiny’s Child are HUGE superstars — the way Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince & Bruce Springsteen were to the 80′s. Even though it was the worst kept secret, the reunited Destiny’s Child was a HUGE deal for many younger people and seeing them perform “Single Ladies” together for the first time ever was pretty fantastic.
Just because Beyonce is a huge name doesn’t mean she sounded good. Anything but.

Her ORIGINAL post was even more transparent that I think she’s maybe a bit out of touch in this area. Beyonce, to many people, is a ginormous superstar. Older people will never concede that because they are still stuck on The Stone, McCartney, The Who, Prince, Bruce, Madonna, Michael, or whoever the giants of their age are/were. Even if YOU hated it, there are millions out there who surely disagree.
Just didn’t measure up to Madonna last year. Madonna set a new standard, and Beyonce was just doing Beyonce. It’s fine, but too much electronica and less other spectacular artists. Just nothing special.

Ya she’s hot, but that show sucked. Sorry half the time she was dancing around, and they played a recording of the chorus. Get some good bands for halftime, not shitty pop music.
I agree it wasn’t an outstanding performance on her part but it was still fabulous. One thing I liked about Madonna’s superbowl performance was how happy and grounded she seemed. It made me happy. My first thoughts about B’s show was how great her weave is and how great a job her surgeon did getting her thighs not to touch.
I kept thinking the same thing. Somebody did a great job on her. I’m not a hater. It is obvious.

She’s beautiful, no doubt about it, and, as my husband said, there were more skanks per square foot than he’d ever seen in his life, but I gotta say that post-menopausel Madonna cranked way more wattage than Ms J-Z.

Beyonce did a good job of planning her breaks. Sing for 2 minutes, dance, then sing. Lots of backing vocals. It was underwhelming. People there are saying it was very muddled.
