Conan O’Brien’s late-night TBS show is getting a companion. The network has ordered a four-week run of a new untitled late-night comedy series starring comedian Pete Holmes and produced by O’Brien’s Conaco production company, which is also behind O’Brien’s talker Conan. The Pete Holmes series will launch in fall 2013 and air four nights a week (Monday-Thursday) at midnight, following Conan. Taped before a live studio audience, the new show will combine sketches, short films, live comedy, field pieces and in-studio guest interviews. O’Brien, Jeff Ross, David Kissinger, Nick Bernstein and Dave Rath executive produce.
Conaco has had the right to program the slot after Conan as part of O’Brien’s original deal with TBS, which he signed in 2010, shortly after his exit from NBC. The agreement mirrors that of David Letterman’s production company Worldwide Pants, which owns/produces both Late Show and Late Late Show. Conaco’s initial focus was on getting Conan off the ground, with TBS airing various repeats after it. It gradually began exploring potential companions, with TBS ordering a pilot for a Holmes-fronted talk show in July. “Pete Holmes is an enormously likable performer with an agile and innovative mind,” said O’Brien. “I’m really looking forward to his show, and I’ve already had my son program my DVR.”
Holmes hosts the You Made It Weird podcast, which has been downloaded nearly 6 million times. He also has starred in a series of popular Batman parodies on the website CollegeHumor, and he provides the voice of the e*trade baby. “The first half of my meeting with Conan was spent making sure this wasn’t all part of a new TBS prank show called You Got Coned!” Holmes said. “The second half was spent expressing my sincerest enthusiasm and gratitude for this incredible dream come true.”

LASER ACCURACY!
DENVER YAAAAAAAAAH!
Great job Pete!
Four weeks? It should be (Chris Thayer voice) five hundred weeks! Love Pete and You Made It Weird!
Super excited for this. I’ve listened too the entire run of his podcast and cannot wait to see what he brings to TV.
Congrats Pete!
I’m so happy!! It’s going to be a hit.
My only problem it’s this: Only four weeks? I’d like five hundred weeks, please.
Ol Petey Pants got himself a show! Is this a free podcast? NO! It’s a cable television program! Way to go Pete!
I pray to Mormon Jesus the podcast doesn’t end!
So when Pete takes over CONAN from Conan will it still be called CONAN? And if so, what will Conan’s 10PM show be called?
11:00 PM Eastern.
Can’t wait for this. Pete Holmes is one if the funniest comedians around, and his podcast is hilarious and insightful.
Feelin’ it!
This list of comments is proof that the world has not lost its way.
Also, more importantly, mmm…. DEFINITELY FEELIN’ IT.
When does Chelsea come on as sidekick #2 to do nothing but make fun of Pete?
Will there be a sidekick named Krispy?
PETE IS IS THE BEST. THIS IS AWESOME NEWS.
It feels like a friend got this show. Pete has been talking about it on his podcast a lot. He deserves it! Great job pete.
This is better than a Subway 6 inch oven roasted chicken with everything except onions!!!! Pete is the sheezit!!! He’s so likable and funny that he once told a racist joke that made me go have a tickle fight with a skinhead. It was awesome and so is Pete!! Great job Conaco!! This is the happiest you’ve made me since the Lookwell Pilot!!! You’re gonna kill ‘em Petey!!!!
Hooray Pete Holmes! He is the nicest comedian I have ever met and his podcast is fantastic. So excited for this!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS! EVEN MORE EXCITED THAN WHEN CONAN RETURNED AFTER “NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO BE FUNNY ON TV.” CONGRATULATIONS OL’ PETEY PANTS!
Way to go Pete! Can’t wait to see this. He was born to do a talk show. He talks a lot and always says funny things.
Chelsea’s in the new Mike Schur show on Fox, right?
Evidently this guy Pete, whoever the hell he is, posted it on his blog or podcast or whatever it is he does, and these comments are all from fans of his. I never heard of him.
Actually, I wasn’t sure that Conan O’Brien still had a show. You never hear anything bout it. It’s still on nightly, or is it weekly? Conan, Coco, baby, you shoulda taken the 12 p.m. Tonight gig when Zucker offered it! Now nobody cares about you, baby.
Holmes is okay, but they should have given the shot to frequent Conan guest Marc Maron.
Wasn’t Michael Ian Black going to be the next Lopez?
Mmmmmmmnnnn… Not feelin’ it!
TBS is planning ahead for when Conan gets The Late Show.
Enough already with the late night talk shows … Anthony Jeselnik, Pete Holmes, Russell Brand, W. Kamau Bell, Andy Cohen, Chelsea Handler, Nikki and Sara, Stewart/Colbert, the five network douches and dozens of failures (Whitney Cummings). It’s a dying genre that somehow only continues to receive more and more orders. Just goes to show the lack of vision (and financial sense) among network executives.
Obviously you just don’t like late night talk shows at all especially if you’re referring to the “five network douches”. I think it’s great when a great comedian gets a chance to have his comedy shown to a wider audience, and Pete Holmes is such a funny guy and a great interviewer. I can’t believe you’re complaining about Stewart and Colbert and, again, “the five network douches”. Just get off it.
DENVER YEAAHHHH!!
