EXCLUSIVE: Bringing together people from film, TV, music and fashion, TEDxHollywood has been set for March 28 at the UCLA Freud Playhouse in LA. An offshoot of parent TEDTalks, TEDx is a series of local events organized independently. With the theme centering on “how content, technology and brands entertain and inform”, confirmed speakers to date include Funny or Die President and CEO Dick Glover, Heroes creator Tim Kring, Courtney Holt of Maker Studios, Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts, musicians John Forte and Kina Granis, BioBeats co-founder Nadeem Kassam and entrepreneur Rachel Shechtman. More will be lined up in the coming weeks. Topics include succeeding in the entertainment world outside the traditional Hollywood system, and great gadgets, gear and technology imagined by Hollywood that could become reality in the near future. Ken Hertz, an entertainment attorney at Hertz & Lichtenstein and founder of memBrain llc, a brand and licensing company, is the event chair.

Got excited, thought you meant the talking Teddy bear.
Just when you thought Hollywood couldn’t possibly be more self-important…
TED needs to protect their identity and be very careful these talks don’t become just another marketing tool for the studios ie Comic Con.
I expect bright, innovative ideas from Ted. Not superhero bullshit.
Laughable speaker list + event chair. Glover is just plain funny in a good way. But Courtney Holt + that shady lawyer Ken Hertz are just plain SCARY EX MUSIC BIZ WISE GUYS. These two guys are DEFACTO responsible FOR CREATING + ENFORCING BAD BUSINESS POLICIES A G A I N S T THE VIDEO CREATORS AND ARTISTS THAT GENERATE CONTENT FOR MAKER STUDIOS (AND MACHINIMA TOO). U CAN READ THE IMVESTIGATIVE COVER STORY FROM LA WEEKLY AND VILLAGE VOICE ONLINE. ITS PROVEN FACT THEY HAVE BOTH ENCOURAGED EXPLOITATION OF VIDEO ARTISTS. Corrupt people proven of such unethical acts in mainstream media, now standing on Tedx stage only soils the TED brand. Ultimate hypocrisy.
Big phoneys and former music bizness scoundrels and super creeps, now poisoning the TED Stage. Get rid of Hertz and Holt if Ted wants a glimmer of respect in Hollywood community.
This Ken Hertz guy is a wannabe Tedster. He posted on his TED bio as national board member of ACLU but in person, he said he has not supported the group for a few years and wants nothing to do with them anymore. Well, it is a personal choice to cut ties but then, why false advertised as a supportive board member, and! NOT National as he wrote but only southern CA? He needs a shrink and should not be seen as a trustable member of TED.
Also! He said in front of a small group, undocumented students just don’t think they have it good enough and expects the world to give them more. What these young undocumented kids should do is to be grateful to even have an education and just go back to their farming community to work! He was as cold as. Stone when he said that. He even had the nerve to say directly to me “I hope I am not offending you!”
I excused myself because I couldn’t watch his pathetic behavior any longer. He will become an undocumented soul under the Star of David one day; he said he was Jewish. I wonder if heIs he will tell his own people to go back to where they came from too?
