NBC has set a date for the series finale of The Office. The 200th and final episode of the Emmy-winning comedy will air May 16. It will be an hourlong closing episode from 9-10 PM that won’t feature original star Steve Carell, who declined an invite to return for the finale.

…and I declined an invite to watch.
Many episodes have been sitting on my DVR waiting to be watched. I admit I’m curious how it all ends, but it’s kinda depressing to watch these days. A lesson in letting a show go on far too long.
2 years too late…
They shoot horses, don’t they? Serious taint to all those that rode this unfunny-for-years gravy train over the edge.
It’s embarassing how bad the US version of the office was compared to the British version. Maybe compared to garbage like How I Met Your Mother or Yes Dear it’s ok but the British Office is one of the funniest shows ever made; can’t we as a country do better than this?
The UK Office was a complete snore. I couldn’t even make it through the second episode. US Office ALL THE WAY.
I would say that anyone who knows comedy would disagree with you. The “motivational speech” episode of the UK office is possibly the funniest 30 minutes in tv history. The US office by contrast is like a cheesy insurance commercial; it completely misses what made the UK office so funny ie David Brent’s delusional view of himself.
I really am embarassed by how bad the US verion of the office is; people around the world compare the two and it further reinforces the stereotype that Americans have no understanding of comedy, irony, etc.
Woops! You caught me. I AM too dumb to know what comedy is! I’ve always wondered what it’s like to laugh, but I never took the requisite courses on humor.
no problem. seriously the uk version is really a lot better. comparing ricky gervais to steve carell is like comparing john lennon to scott stapp, or winston churchill to john edwards.
Thanks, Bill. You’re about 9 years too late. And thanks for the lazy generalizations about Americans and Brits, they’re riveting, too.
Ok bye
The Office is one of the funniest shows on TV, with or without Steve Carell. Don’t hate just because he left.
Yawn…
Sad, this season has been wonderful.
The office is hilarious! Kevin is my fav, he just does and says the funniest things and the one episode where holly thought he was slow was so funny and when he dropped the pot of chili. I wish there was more
Your nuts. Show is still great
