TNT is streaming the first 7 episodes of Dallas Season 2 in advance of the upcoming episode “J.R.’s Masterpiece”‘, which features the funeral for Larry Hagman’s iconic villain J.R. Ewing. The episodes will stream on TNTdrama.com through March 12, the day after ”J.R.’s Masterpiece” airs, and all 8 episodes will be streamable on that date. Hagman, who first played J.R. Ewing from 1978-1991 during the original run of Dallas on CBS, resumed the role for TNT’s 2012 revival. He died in November of leukemia, after which TNT confirmed that his character would be killed off rather than recast. Dallas has been suffering in the ratings, with the Season 2 premiere in January down almost 60% in viewership from the reboot’s Season 1 debut last June.

On one hand, wish they had left this as a summer series – ratings probably wouldn’t be nosediving.. on the other, had they waited, they might not have even had this many episodes with Larry Hagman.
I’m one of those still watching but admittedly it’s not the first thing I choose when deciding which of my dvred programs to watch.
At the very least, these two last ‘extra’ seasons will be an appropriate swan song for JR and Mr. Hagman. He’s been doing some tremendous and subtle work in this last season and it’s sad that it’s not pulled more of an audience.
Just checked IMDB…
per broadcast of new episodes, Larry Hagman first played J.R. Ewing on April 2nd 1978…He just missed his 35th anniversary by one month.
Rest In Peace Larry “J.R.Ewing” Hagman
I am a big fan of Dallas. As a teenager in the ’70′s l watched every show whenever possible. I think the new series is brilliant, and Larry Hagman is just great. I have watched every episode so far – so many plots. However, it used to be on at 9pm and is now on at 11pm which is far too late. I also think it should have been put on BBC 1 as this may have attracted more viewers. Too many commercials!
Oh my gosh just loved Dallas. loved all the characters over the years. Always kept me wanting more. Bobby you loved, J.R you hated at times but loved other times. Even though Bobby and Sue Ellen are still in it won’t be the same without Larry Hagman. He’s the only one that could play the villian and get away with it. loved him and will miss him deeply. **P.S. loved him in I Dream Of Jeannie!
Ratings are fine much better than Southland and Monday Mornings on the same station. Justified gets only about the same for the demo but a lot less total viewers. Dallas seen small bumps each week too. This is typical doom/gloom stuff. Do they mention Revenge’s ratings have fallen every single week and lost almost half it ‘s audience since its 2nd season premiere
Dallas is exceeding TNT’s expectations as they are launching a strategy to have scripted series run outside of summer! Each week, viewership increases over the prior week. In addition, the writing is moving towards character development which is what made the original so successful. Great job writers!
The show is awesome. Give it a chance if you haven’t. I watched all the originals and now these last 1 and a half seasons so far and I can’t get enough. I’m sad to see JR go but the show will still be real good. I hope they continue this series for many seasons to come.
