The Original family of vampires will remain intact in their leap from The Vampire Diaries to their own series, planted spinoff The Originals. Claire Holt has been cast as a lead in Originals, which will be introduced in the April 25 episode of the CW drama. She will reprise her recurring TVD role as Rebekah, the vampire sister of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies). The trio represents all surviving Original siblings as their two other brothers recently faced their demise on TVD. Holt had been rumored to join The Originals from the get-go, but I’d heard talks hit a snag and TVD‘s Phoebe Tonkin was signed for the potential spinoff instead. Now Holt, who just signed with CAA, becomes the fourth cast member of the original series to transition to the spinoff.
Written by TVD co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Holt is additionally repped by Melanie Greene at Affirmative Entertainment and Doug Stone.

Holt carried here character well in TVD, so i suppose that will transition for the spinoff. Plus…she’s incredibly hot. I only hope the story telling will equal the mother ship.
I agree about Claire. She is so beautiful. I am very happy that she will be a regular on The Originals. I am surprised that it has taken this long to announce it.
I only hope the don’t fire Phoebe Tonkin now that they got Claire Holt. That would suck
I don’t think they will. The producers and writers seem to like her. Also, I believe she and Claire Holt are good friends. It would be great to see them work together again.
That girl is unwatchable!
Absolutely!
More Claire! No Phoebe!
H2O reunion
So disappointed with TVD past season 3. It’s gotten so ridiculous with how many supernaturals they keep making up and how its impossible for anyone to die. Yawn. There just simply aren’t any rules because they keep rewriting them constantly. I would say the original vampires are the most ridiculous parts, so why would they get their own spinoff?
Klaus is the best part of the show, soooo, fail comment…
The thing that made the show horrible is the fact that they won’t shut up about the damn love triangle IMO. It is front and center no matter what, especially this season. The Originals are the only thing keeping me from leaving, and once they get their own show, unless tvd turns around, I am probably out until they get back to being decent again.
Aahh. Love Rebecca. This is good news.
What about her smoking hot evil Mama, Esther?
I can’t wait for new series ! Love Rebekah & she’s become a Favorite .VD is never on enough or long enough so this will help.Miss Secret Circle …. Cancelled way too early !
Well I hope they don’t think that Phoebe Tonkin is dispensable now. I hope the show is great and gets picked up!
wooooo!!
clarie holt is a really good actress she is a tough girl she can stop her stuff i hope she continue playing on VD i can’t wait for the next season to start
Tonkin is like the Lily Collins of TV: very pretty but truly terrible (albeit in completely different ways), yet Hollywood is bafflingly determined to make them happen.
Get thee to a dialect coach!
Um… The originals are the best part of TVD.
You’re drunk, go home.
RIP TVD, gone are the all the most interesting and fun characters.
omg yeeees, cant wait!!!
Is anyone else really wary of this idea? A spin off is a step in the wrong direction. There are too many unconnecting plots happening at once. By killing Jeremy and having Klaus and Rebekah leave the show they’re essentially getting rid of the glue that held a lot of the current storyline together. I can’t help but feel as if Caroline and Tyler will get left out in the cold with Klaus leaving and with Jeremy dead Matt and Bonnie will too. If Rebekah leaves Stefan will end up back in the love triangle with Elena and Damon and that is getting so overplayed. The writers need to bring the characters together again not separate them by making a spin off.
