As somebody who finds pretty much all elements of TWILIGHT repellent, am I deluded to think this looks like an interesting flick? Can anyone who read the book enlighten me?
The story looks mildly interesting, but a lot of the moments with any action or acting look pretty cheesy. So they’ve released a teaser that shows no footage and instead of a full trailer, they put out some footage with Stephanie Meyer telling us why we should go see the movie. That never bodes well. It means they don’t trust the footage they shot.
Not a good sign.

I disagree! Meyer is integral to the ‘fanbase’, which is why she figures prominently in the ‘featurettes’.
She has been effusive in her praise for the performances of the cast (unlike Twilight), especially Saoirse Ronan who portrays the dual role of Melanie/Wanda and I doubt she would do that if she didn’t fully believe it.
For a science fiction fan who likes a bit of romance, this should be a pretty good movie. I’ve read the book and I liked it, not because of the great writing, but because of the interesting twist Stephenie Meyer gave to the story. I understand the movie will not be exactly like the book. I would rather read something I was interested in that wasn’t written all that well to a well written literary piece that bored me. This is entertainment for goodness sake. Not everyone likes science fiction or romance. Some will like it, some won’t. It doesn’t have to be the best picture of the year for me to like it. I believe the actors and actresses selected for this movie will do a good job of providing a great evening of entertainment. Sit back and enjoy!
