BREAKING: Looks like Warner Bros now has a handle on Spy Hunter, the action film based on the best selling vidgame The studio, which has attached Ruben Fleischer to direct the film, just closed a deal with Carter Blanchard to write the script. Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing. Fleischer most recently helmed Gangster Squad for the studio and directed Zombieland. Blanchard wrote Glimmer, a spec script that sold to DreamWorks and now has Ringan Ledwidge directing.
The video game has had a long history of film development, with turns taken on versions with Dwayne Johnson and directors including John Woo and Paul W.S. Anderson. Mark Bauch will be co-producer and Doug Davison will be exec producer along with John Middleton and Fleischer. Blanchard is repped by Paradigm and Madhouse, while Fleischer is repped by UTA.

Where’s my Ikari Warriors movie?
Spy Hunter is so 92′.
’92? You mean ’83!
Fleischer directs a disaster with GS and then gets this gig? Thought he’d be in move jail for longer than that. Good for him though! Tough town but it does give second (and third) chances.
Unfortunately he’s a one trick pony and GS proved that. But, we’ll see…
Professor Falken
30 MINUTES OR LESS proved it, GANGSTER SQUAD confirmed it.
One of the all time great classic arcade games. really liked GLIMMER and Gangster Sq – go get it Carter and Ruben!
Troll post is trolly.
Statham for the lead or as main villan please….
Ikari Warriors! Well played sir…
30 Minutes and Less and Gangster Squad. How much money does WB want to lose with this guy? If he were a female director he’d would’ve been doing episodes of Two Broke Girls after the first bomb. Not getting rewarding after the second.
ganster squad was UNWATCHABLE. So, it makes sense that Jeff WB Robonov is making another movie with that helmer. And by the way, WB admitted he couldn’t direct and had sean penn direct the movie for him. So, again, WHY NOT MAKE ANOTHER ONE? CRAXY. WB the place where Ben Affleck runs naked in the hallways saying, I OWN THIS STUDIO and they keep making movies with horrible filmmakers.
We are always making popular pictures at my studio, if it’s a popular video game then it will be a popular picture, that’s always been my motto. I don’t play video games I don’t understand them they give me headaches. I like baseball and football and poker and horse racing but these damn video games seem to be what the teenagers like so that’s what we’re going to give them. Spy Hunter in 3D!
Is anyone surprised by this? How many chances did Robinov give Hack Snyder?
But at least Snyder has a vision. WATCHMEN, while overly long and doesn’t quite work, was at least trying to push the envelope of superhero films, doing something different. And SUCKER PUNCH is a total guilty pleasure. Girls in skimpy outfits with guns – what’s not to like?
I don’t know how SUPERMAN will turn out, but again, I’d say Snyder at least takes chances.
Rubin has no style and his films suck. I wasn’t really sure what all the hype about ZOMBIELAND was all about. It had some funny jokes, but at the end of the day, total forgetful film.
Jesus fucking christ. Really?
…, the headline for this article should probably read.
“Warner Bros. moving full speed on Spy Hunter until Ryan Gosling passes on it and then it will just be forgotten about.”
Carter Blanchard is the jewel in that shakey crown. Hoping it works well.
