Actor-comedian Al Madrigal (Free Agents) has been cast in About A Boy, NBC‘s single-camera pilot written by Jason Katims, and directed by Jon Favreau, which follows the relationship between Will (David Walton), a bachelor man-child, and the young boy who moves in next door with his kooky single mother, Fiona (Minnie Driver). Madrigal, repped by CAA, Brillstein and Karl Austen, will play Andy, Will’s best friend and husband of Laurie (Anjelah Johnson). He is a correspondent on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and has standup special Why Is The Rabbit Crying premiering on Comedy Central in April.
Brenda Koo (Bling Ring) has been added to Karyn Usher’s Fox drama pilot Delirium, playing Ren, the best friend to Alex (Daren Kagasoff), a covert revolutionary and an opponent of the anti-Deliria operations. She is with Genesis Entertainment Partners and AEF Talent Agency. Also cast in Delirium in a recurring role as star Emma Roberts’ sister is Erin Cahill (Red Widow). She is repped by Talentworks and Cary Anderson Management.
Rossif Sutherland (Flashpoint), son of Donald Suthrland and half-brother of Kiefer Sutherland, has been cast as the French prophet Nostradamus (a recurring role) in the CW drama pilot Reign, about the teen years of Mary Queen of Scots in France. Sutherland, repped by APA, Characters Talent Agency and Untitled, is filming BBC America’s Copper.

I guess Reign is playing fast and loose with history. This show presumably takes place around 1557, as Mary Queen of Scots was born in 1542 and she’s supposed to be 15 in the show. Nostradamus was born in 1503, and would be about 54 when this show takes place. Rossif Sutherland is 34 years old.
I guess they’re forgoing historical accuracy in order to have a young and sexy Nostradamus.
Hollywood playing fast and loose with history? Why, that would be utterly unprecedented.
Delirium belongs on Cinemax.
Brenda Koo is the real deal. Her added to Delirium is very exciting. Can’t wait.
Hooray for Al Madrigal! Very original, very funny… here’s hoping Jon’s pilot makes it to series.
