Alfred Molina may be returning to his comedy roots with a starring role opposite Krysten Ritter in the NBC single-camera comedy pilot Assistance, from Gary Sanchez Prods and Universal TV. Written by Leslye Headland, Assistance centers on Nora (Ritter), an idealistic “working girl” assistant who is pulled between her colleague Seth (Zach Cregger) and her real-life fiance (Peter Cambor) while trying to manage her demanding boss Daniel (Molina). Daniel is a very successful film producer with a large presence and thick intensity. Molina currently stars on David E. Kelley TNT drama series Monday Mornings, which has done poorly in the ratings and is not expected to go to a second season. Since headlining a couple of sitcoms on CBS a decade ago, Molina, repped by WME and manager Joan Hyler, has stayed largely on the drama side with starring roles on Law & Order: LA and Monday Mornings.

Wow. great casting
The play Assistance was no good, so why should we expect the pilot to be any good?
two word. kristen ritter. thats why!
and because the script is good.
bummer — I really like MONDAY MORNINGS
sad to read no one else is
…liking the new show
You’re not alone. Too bad re: the ratings.
Calm down. The script was awesome.
Agreed. Really been liking Monday Mornings. To bad they didn’t launch in the summer. Maybe would have fared better
Agreed. TNT failed so spectacularly to promote their winter programming, especially Monday Mornings and Southland’s return. How they could fail to plan ahead for network competition being a factor versus their summer launches is beyond me. Instead they got their asses handed to them.
He looks rough. But will be watching.
This pilot is getting better and better. They really nailed it with the casting.
We love MONDAY MORNINGS… I’m getting sick and tired in investing in a show that we really enjoy to find out that it may (or will be) cancelled. Of the shows with ratings in the top 10, we only watch two of them and find many are crap. How is it a show like this with a great ensemble, story and great pedigree with David E Kelly at the helm can fare so poorly. I simply don’t get it.
We love MONDAY MORNINGS TOO. Whats the matter with these television shows that they cant sign the leads to longer contracts or take the shows to major networks ? HBO or Showtime could have picked up on this one.
I was blown away by the writing & acting of MONDAY MORNINGS from the first episode. I haven’t enjoyed a medical drama this much in ages. Is there no hope for a second season?
