Comedy Central has given a 10-episode series order to Broad City, an adaptation of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s digital series, for a 2014 premiere. The project, originally set up at FX in 2011, was picked up up pilot by Comedy Central last fall. It follows two friends in New York City (Jacobson, Glazer), navigating their way through the minutiae that is life. “Finally, there’s a television show set in New York City,” said Comedy Central president of original programming Kent Alterman. Broad City is executive produced by Upright Citizens Brigade alums Jacobson and Glazer; UCB co-founder Amy Poehler; Poehler’s manager, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky; and Jacobson and Glazer’s manager Samantha Saifer. Tony Hernandez is co-executive producer. “I’m excited to work with Comedy Central and introduce Abbi and Ilana to America,” Poehler said. “And all the other countries. And also Mars. We’ve got big plans.”

Yes! These girls are extremely funny, talented, and up-and-coming, and are becoming name brands in the NYC comedy community! Great choice, Kent!
This is a weird pick up. I’m really feeling like the bloom is off the rose for the new Comedy Central. Not sure who they are anymore. Will they pair this with workaholics for the boys and GIRLS hour. Looking at what they have on the air now with the burn which is terrible jeselnick also not funny and those two austitic guys Ben and Nathan I’m not sure there is a clear strategy. New President same as the old? Dust off the puppet guy? Yikes. Much easier to sell to fx these days.
Kent Alterman strung some words together…instead of just staring…good for you Kent…it’s all cliche…but still…real progress…very “Semi-Pro”…
Amy Poehler can do no wrong in my book. Kudos, Dave!
I couldn’t agree more. I know nothing about these girls but with Amy P. attached I’ll be watching. She’s just a marvel in my opinion.
Love these two. Super funny comedians and this was an awesome web series. High hopes for this show! HIGH HOPES!!!!
Abbi and Ilana are amazingly funny. This show could do for Comedy Central what GIRLS has done for HBO. Inject some intelligence into Comedy, while maintaining truly comedic moments that will appeal to Comedy Central’s core audience.
