EXCLUSIVE: Breck Eisner has been set to direct The Last Witch Hunter, and Vin Diesel is in early talks to star. The film is being co-financed by Summit Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films. In the Cory Goodman-scripted film, the protagonist is an immortal witch hunter who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. Summit is out to Diesel to play the Witch Hunter. Goodman’s script made the 2010 Black List. His manager, Adam Goldworm will be exec producer.
Eisner most recently helmed The Crazies, and Diesel will next be seen in the Justin Lin-directed Fast & Furious 6, and the David Twohy-directed Riddick. Diesel is repped by CAA and Brillstein and Eisner by CAA and Management 360. Goodman is repped by WME and Aperture Entertainment.
Emmett/Furla is at the center of numerous big scale films that most recently include a team-up with Universal and Working Title on Everest, the Baltasar Kormakur-directed film that has Christian Bale attached to star; the Kormakur-directed 2 Guns with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg; and Lone Survivor, the Peter Berg-directed adaptation of the Marcus Luttrell memoir about how Luttrell and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader. Universal will release that film.

I love this script – I hope Vin signs up – He would be awesome in this role.
You’re a moron.
OH MY GOD STOP THIS NOW. THIS IS THE MOMENT TO ALL COME TO YOUR SENSES AND NOT WASTE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND MAN HOURS. PLEASE!
Looove Vin – I’m so excited to see him in a supernatural movie! Witch hunting is badass.
Vin is the perfect action hero, it’d be awesome to see him do this role – fingers crossed he takes it!
Takeitoutsidemimi – I second that.
I THIRD THAT, Takeitousidemimi. Please, stop this! It’s not too late!
Lore + Last Witch Hunter = Great year for Cory Goodman!
This almost sounds as good as the giant slayer or hansel and gretel
Yep, audiences sure LOVED that last Witch Hunters film.
I can’t imagine a movie I’d want to see less. Vin is the worst actor in the history of movies.
Indeed , Diesel like many other pumped up male lead actors gets millions of dollars for trash projects made for a bad actor,
From all that money they could make at least 10 good films with good actors.
Why is it that bad actors , male and female in film get all that work and money, in film or on cable tv,
And great actors who work on tv series, male and female, do not get a chance in film?
Indeed, – the reason is simple. The audience is dumb and soon to be dumber. It is dumb beyond your imagination of what dumb is. It is an exploration of dumb. The product merely reflects that and there is no innovation in product line because the decisions are being made by suits with bottom-line tunnel vision.
I thought he was quite good in Boiler Room and even in Find Me Guilty. F&F isn’t my cup of coffee so it would be nice to see him do something showing more range but “worst actor in history of movies” doesn’t quite add up for a guy whose box office is over $2B (F&F only being half that amount).
People remember that this guy “directed” Sahara, right?
Modern-day covens hiding in Manhattan? Very cool.
Didn’t Nic Cage make this movie just recently? He did sort of but it was set in the middle ages. Season of the Witch. Where’s my sandwich? It’s time for lunch.
Maybe it should read ” EMMETT FURLA is at the center of numerous people/companies not being paid on their films. Now that is the story.
can’t wait to hear how the marketing for this movie caused it to underperform/flop.
jack the witch killer part 2: on beanstalk island
Please someone alert me as to the source of this guy’s appeal? How is it still possible that he is cranking out violent kiddie porn? Does he have some unknown following in Brooklyn somewhere? At least Telly Savalas was a good actor with a sense of humor. This guy is Hollywood’s search for the all elusive black hole. An epic chunk of anti-matter that if it implodes again could suck an entire studio down into a Florida State sized sinkhole.
You mean 40 million Facebook fans and reinvigorating a Fast & Furious franchise to the tune of (wait for it) $1.3 billion dollars isn’t good enough for you? Let’s remember that Tokyo Drift was a disaster before he agreed to produce and star in Fast 4, 5 & 6. Fast 6 will make another boatload of money and you will be crying in blogs about your unwanted spec…
I’m not a fan of his antics but anyone who has been around knows his movies make $ so there has to be something appealing to a fan-base about him.
While people in general, have their own opinion… I perfer to keep my trap shut… as my mother taught me, if I don’t have something nice to say about a hard working person, then do not say anything.
Vin Diesel works in an industry that gives people excitement, joy, and plenty of entertainment. He is in the position he is in, not for being a pretty boy, but because he is a hard working person who believes in what he does, loves what he works in, and gives it his all… at all times. He is a serious humanitarian, others should… follow in his footsteps. Sadly filling his shoes would be hard to do… that mold was broken when he was born, too much love for a human race hell bound in destroying itself. I say more power to a man that helps under privleged youths, get a free education in filming, so they will not have to depend on government assistance. I think he would make a great witch hunter. Good Luck Mr. Vin Diesel
