CBS Films said today that it will be releasing The Kings Of Summer two weeks earlier than first announced. The film, previously known as Toy’s House, will now come out May 31 as opposed to June 14, 2013. CBS Films picked up domestic rights to the coming-of-age film in January after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Jordan Vogt-Robert and written by Chris Galletta, the film follows three friends as they decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and Alison Brie star. Tyler Davidson, Peter Saraf and John Hodges produced. Here’s the just-released trailer:

Tied with Fruitvale for the best movie of Sundance. I like that the teaser is actually a teaser.
Teasers like this are usually simple indications that the distrib doesn’t have a character hook or story hook to sell to audiences, so they bombard you with shopworn plaudits from low-rent critics instead. Umm who exactly called it “an instant classic?” Good luck trying to find out because they bury this critic-you’ve-never-heard-of in 3 pt font. Hey, SOMEBODY called it “an instant classic!”
Or maybe it’s just a teaser. Must be fun going through life with such unfounded cynicism.
I thought cory feldman retired?
