There’s a new show on Jeff Zucker’s work in progress, aka CNN, tonight. Or rather, a 2-year-old show on CNN actually has a new name as of today. “Tonight the show formerly known as Piers Morgan Tonight gets a new name – @PiersMorganLive CNN 9pmET,” tweeted Piers Morgan earlier today. On the ratings-troubled show Monday, Morgan joked that the name was changed because it “was all live, all the time.” The name change was the host and former America’s Got Talent judge’s idea to emphasis the fact that the NY-based interview show is often actually live, a source tells me. Now the show will always be live Monday to Thursdays. Sounding a lot like Larry King Live, which Morgan replaced in January 2011, the name change was first announced late last week. While Morgan may have tweeted the change today, it looks like he hasn’t updated the background on his Twitter page to reflect his show’s new handle. It still says Piers Morgan Tonight.

honestly, redesigning the set so it’s less blue and piercing would help tremendously. it’s 9 pm, people are winding down. blue just makes you feel like you are staring at a computer monitor. should be an easy fix, isn’t the entire set made of fragmented leds ? piers is a good show, but it can be a great one w/ a number of fixes. further, whoever books for katie couric’s daytime is booking strong guests. why can’t PM do this ? 9pm on a prestige network. who wouldn’t want that exposure ? finally, rather than cover the days big events like tonight, get a great guest, and develop the interview.

Piers Morgan is a sanctimonius bore. Regardless of whether one agree’s with his points of view or not, he covers everything in 50 shades of dull. In all of the United States, how could there not have been one person who could have succeeded Larry King? The fact that CNN, an iconic American broadcast brand, hired someone clearly non-American – and he keeps reminding viewers of that fact – is astounding. There are lots of reasons to dislike Piers Morgan, but disliking him for not being American is dumb.
That’s not what he was saying, Morgan is sort of proudly non-American, which is fine, but why not stay in the UK then? He’s not in the least bit interesting to anyone with any sort of intelligence.
I really don’t think changing the name of the show to Live is going to help. I would rather watch Larry King interviewing someone he has no idea who they are then Piers interview anyone.
With his ratings it will soon be Piers Morgan Dead. His show is pathetic and he’s an obnoxious snob. He should have been sent to jail in England for his illegal wiretapping and he should still be prosecuted here for that criminal activity he could definitely be prosecuted here because he illegally listened to phone calls from American citizens thus invading their privacy and breaking laws both American and English. He is an arrogant effete elite jerk who thinks the USA are still British Colonies.

Piers is capable of hosting a good show but his gun control histrionics turned me off completely and I won’t watch him again. It’s not about his stance but rather the low-brow direction he took the program with his unbearable shouting matches, giving it the aspect of the Jerry Springer show. But the worst part was a noticeable lack of sincerity in it all, as if some executive told him to be more sensational to generate ratings. So his credibility after that is nil.

Most folk’s learn to think more logicallly by the time their 15 or 16, not good ole Peir’s. Also deserving of HORRIBLE MENTION are some of the talk-radio crowd,-who openly admit that the job of the call screener is to make THEM LOOK GOOD. Gee.
