Just like it recently did with NCIS and its star Mark Harmon, CBS has signed a new contract extension with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation leading man Ted Danson and simultaneously renewed the veteran crime drama for the 2013-14 season. I hear Danson, whose original two-year deal for the show was up this season, has signed another two-year pact. His salary has been well over $200,000 an episode. Also set to return next season are co-lead Elisabeth Shue and original cast members George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Paul Guilfoyle and Robert David Hall, along with Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, David Berman and Jon Wellner. The renewal will extend CSI‘s run to 14 seasons. With CSI: Miami ending last May and CSI: NY expected to follow it this year, the mothership series is expected to be the only CSI on the air next season. On NBC, first spinoff Law & Order: SVU actually outlasted the original Law & Order series and the second spinoff Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
“The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue and our beloved and talented core of original cast members,” CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said. Added David Stapf, president of CBS TV Studios, which produces CSI. “CSI is one of the top global franchises and is seen in almost every country in the world.” CSI recently won the International TV Audience Award for the “most watched show in the world” for a third consecutive year and fifth time in seven years. On CBS, it has shored up the Wednesday 10 PM slot where it moved after a long run in the tentpole Thursday 9 PM position. Season to date, CSI is No. 1 in the hour in total viewers (11.85 million), adults 18-49 (2.9/08) and adults 25-54 (3.8/09). CSI is executive produded by Jerry Bruckheimer, showrunners Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill, creator Anthony Zuiker, Jonathan Littman, Louis Milito, Ann Donahue, original star William Petersen and his producing partner Cindy Chvatal.

I’ve watched CSI from the start. Even occasionally watch the rerun reruns. Danson has been great.
Yay! This was another great season for CSI and I’m so excited we’ll get a 14th. Hopefully 15, 16 and 17 too! Great cast and great stories. Smart move, Mr. Moonves.
YES THAT WOULD BE GREAT
CSI will probably make it to 20 years, with NCIS not far behind…
I never really got into these CSI shows. What’s good about them? Anyone care to chime in? I’m curious.
Wonderful news! Thank you for the info Nellie! I began watching CSI again because of Ted & Elisabeth. Their presence has reenergized this show! Wish them both continued success.
“He’s making Ted Danson money!” as George Costanza would say. What a successful TV career this guy has had, happily it’s because he’s got talent.
$200k an episode? I think Danson was making more per episode of Cheers by its third season. Adjust that for inflation and then you’ve got real Ted Danson money.
Great news – Danson is one of the few central character replacements i can recall that’s really worked. he’s brought new energy and fresh air.
I’m french and a great fan of Nick and Greg
I am so glad to hear this. CSI for at least one more year. Thank you. Ted Danson has been a perfect fit.
CSI with Danson and Shue feels like a brand new show, more like a spinoff than a continuation of the original. Perhaps that freshness helps to explain why it is maintaining its high audience numbers after so many years on the air.
“On NBC, first spinoff Law & Order: SVU actually outlasted the original Law & Order series”
Not true!
I still want csi ny to come back for another season.
I THINK THAT CBS SHOULD KEEP CSI VEGAS, CSI NEW YORK, AND BRING BACK CSI MIAMI. AND GET RID OF BLUE BLOODS. THE REASON WHY I SAY THAT CBS SHOULD BRING BACK CSI MIAMI IS BECAUSE I WAS WAITING TO SEE LT. CANE AND HIS SISTER-IN-LAW FINALLY GET TOGETHER, BUT SINCE CBS CANCLED THE SHOW I GUESS THE CSI FANS WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPENED. THANKS CBS!
THATS FOR SURE THE CSI SHOWS SHOULD BE ON
I’d love to see a romance bloom between Nick & Sara, Nick’s a sweetheart! It’d be AWESOME to see a story involving CSI Miami to bring them back! Disappointing to see they cancelled with no story ending it’s like a pie with no filling.
I didn’t even know new york had ended .Bummer!!!!! I never miss it and I don’t think I saw where it was last show , deffinitely not final show . Hope they bring it back , one of my favorites . I would like to see miami come back as well . I liked cain’s caracter .
THEY SHOUD BUT THEY DONT CARE
Its great to csi go another yaer. Its a great show BUt so was csi
New York” they should keep the two csi shows on and take law and order off that show is bad theold law and order was good but not the one now
I think CSI: Miami was done wrong, they should’ve at least gotten a proper ending. Don’t get me wrong i love the original CSI but Miami was bright and vol
I agree with you CSI: Miami was done wrong and I can’t believe after CSI: Miami made CBS the most watched television network and made them tons of money, they could care less about the shows ending. I mean NYC 22 replaced CSI: Miami and didn’t even get one season, so that tells me they had a good show and let it go over something that didn’t do that good. CBS you had a good show going and you cancelled one of the best shows ever and you don’t really care about the fans or the cast. Now I know you’ll never read this, but I think CSI: Miami deserves a proper goodbye so what can you do to make a CSI: Miami movie?
Should New York have been cancelled instead of Miami? A poll I found on a website.
No, enough Miami already (13%)
Maybe, I’m not sure (4%)
Yes, save Miami (83%) I voted for this one
