Fox is postponing production on drama pilot Wild Blue, which has been moved off-cycle. Written by Taylor Elmore and to be directed by Michael Dinner, the Sony Pictures TV-produced project is an upstairs/downstairs look at the working men and women aboard an aircraft carrier. Given the setting, Fox and Sony TV had been looking to film the pilot on a Navy carrier. Speculation about the pilot being pushed first surfaced more than two weeks ago when it became clear that the carrier the producers were eying for the shoot would not be available until after pilot season. But around the same time, Tim McGraw, a top choice for the lead role, engaged, entering talks. The prospect of landing him made Fox and Sony TV put a pin in their plans to push production and instead explore alternative location options, including building some of the needed interiors onstage. But McGraw eventually walked away, and the network and studio reverted to their previous plan to wait until the carrier they wanted becomes available. Cast in Wild Blue so far are Mykelti Williamson, Josh Salatin, Will Rothhaar, Alano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

Heard it was because all Brits and Aussies over 18 were already booked in pilots and features.
The irony of white American men complaining about casting!
How do you know he’s white?
How do you know he’s a he?
I have no complaints about Brits and Aussies playing American in the US, IF, and I mean ONLY if American actors can just as freely go to the UK and Australia and get a work visa to do the same. It’s a one way street that screws my fellow citizens, and no i’m not an actor.
Sure. Because we never had Meryl Streep playing Margareth Tatcher, for instance.
And American actors do go there to try and get cast just as often…
We Americans are tired of the Aussies & Brits taking jobs from talented – YES, TALENTED – actors. Like out of all the SAG-AFTRA members these narrow-minded Casting Directors (BTW, most didn’t go to casting schools to get their degrees – cause there aren’t any schools, so what qualifies them, YET they tell actors to go to classes/schools to qualify for their jobs & many pass judgment without having them audition to see if they can act) & execs can’t find American actors to fill American roles. B.S.! Try giving USA actors a chance to audition, you’d be amazed how many have natural talent. As for the Brit/Aussie invasion… ever see the shit they produce in their own country? No wonder they favor USA. Still… those casting traitors need to take care of our own first and foremost. If they love them so much we’ll gladly pay for you ticket out of the USA.
Well, first, maybe because he put “guy” in his username, so that’s one check.
Second, because I only hear of white American men complaining about this, and he didn’t post a refutation, that’s the second check.
you are right on. being a white male in America, f’ng rules. got a lot of minority friends. they can’t speed on the freeway. with any luck, some day it’ll be this awesome for everyone. but just so you’re not completely disillusioned if it happens, hollywood’s still a grind and a constant hustle. great when it works, though. no business like it!
You implying Non-Whites are the only ones in the Service serving our country? Must be ’cause ‘nyguy’ doesn’t hit what his color is. Guess NY only has whites in that state. Give us a break fella, or is it gal, or neither. Whatever. LOL
Taylor Elmore is a GENIUS.
Not only a “GREAT” writer, but a ‘GREAT’ human as well.
Come to Corpus Christi, TX we have the USS Lexington – already used in a few shoots! They’d easily be able to update the interiors!
I was thinking that too. There are a couple of old carriers around the country that could be used as sets.
What’s not mentioned is the role of sequestration cuts adding to the difficulty working with the Navy.
Bingo.
