EXCLUSIVE: Add Giovanni Ribisi to A Million Ways To Die In The West, the next film to star and be directed by Seth MacFarlane. Ribisi reteams with MacFarlane, who is once again teamed in this venture with Media Rights Capital, which finally rode in a big winner when it backed MacFarlane’s last film, Ted, the foul mouthed stuffed bear comedy that has now grossed over $543 million worldwide. Universal is expected to become the distributor of the Western, after releasing Ted. MacFarlane wrote the script with Ted and Family Guy cohorts Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, and Scott Stuber and Jason Clark are producing. They were producers on Ted with MacFarlane and John Jacobs.
MacFarlane will play Albert, a not very good sheep farmer who chickens out of a duel and gets dumped by his girlfriend. Ribisi, who played a most peculiar stuffed bear-napper in Ted, is in talks to play MacFarlane’s character’s best friend Edward, a simple shoe repairman who bears up with a girlfriend who won’t have sex with him, but as a working prostitute she’s doing it with everybody else. He tried to get his buddy Albert back into the dating scene. Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried also star. Ribisi is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Stewart Brookman.

Sounds funny.
wait, what? why is the plot different than what other websites are reporting?
The plot will follow MacFarlane as a cowboy who, after losing his girlfriend (Seyfried) begins to train as a gunfighter with a famous outlaw (Neeson). The only trouble is, the cowboy begins to develop feelings for the outlaw’s wife (Theron).
Ribisi’s role is said to be that of MacFarlane’s character best friend.
Good for Giovanni, I’ve always liked him since the Boiler Room. I’m still waiting for his career to really take off.
As much as I wish you were right, I get the feeling that Giovanni Ribisi, as a remarkable character actor, will never “take off,” though he will probably always have work, which means something.
Great actor! Look forward to see him in in everything. Don’t understand why he won’t take voice classes.
I’ve been reading various posts in other blogs about this movie and everyone seems to berate Ribisi as a less than talented actor. Why is this? I think he’s a marvelous actor, especially when he plays the lead in character roles.
Looking forward to Million Ways to Die in the West ” to film here in New Mexico! Hope every one is aware that because of the drought and BLM Wild Horse policies, wild horses are set to be slaughtered at the Roswell NM slaughter house, just in time for the filming of this movie . maybe the actors could threaten a walk-off and influence our callous Governor, Susana Martinez ?
