Wow!!! Such original plot points! ohhhhhh, awwwwwwww. another empty Abrams ride. can’t waiiiiit to see all these movies processed together with a star trek wrapper. wonderful. Abrams is so over rated it’s ridiculous.
Shouldn’t you be working on Draft 1,942.3 of your THE BICYCLE THIEF re-imagining?
I love when film school geeks that were forced to swallow too many CASABLANCA’s in between tokes of 8 1/2 refer to a behemoth like JJ as “over-rated”.
“None of you are safe. Have I got your attention now?”
Yes! With bad grammar!
None of you knows it’s a mistake, however…
Abrams is a great TV producer, totally deserving of his recent Norman Lear award. But as a film director, he is not all that. I’m looking forward to Trek film, but only for the cast he has assembled. I fully expect the plot to be bollocks.
Benedict Cumberbatch will win Oscar in next 3 years. With Star Trek in 3D will be hard we saw what happen with avengers(no love for 3D from the acadamy) but he will take it. I am sure he is outstanding as always. I think only 3d movie close to oscar was Avatar.
Or that recent movie LIFE OF PI…
You know it’s bad when your villain is so cool that viewers root for him to win. Like it was with Loki in Thor, like it is with Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek. Chris Pine looks so weak and boring next to him. And they keep ignoring Spok. Like some one-two lines in trailers. They basically ignore all other characters. Only Pine and Cumberbatch get to speak and act.
And there is a reason why Chris Pine has no career outside Star Trek. Because he is weak and boring actor.
Except he is starring in another huge tent pole film with the jack Ryan reboot…
Typical ignorant post
Yeah, you know it’s gonna flop or underperform, right? Jack Ryan movies are not what Jason Bourne movies are now. That one starring Renner had some money because of it’s famous name in the title. Jack Ryan movies don’t have huge modern fan base to rely on.
“Yeah, you know it’s gonna flop or underperform, right?” No he doesn’t because he’s not a TIME TRAVELLER, as you clearly are. Seriously, who’s going to win the next Super Bowl?
You made the point that Pine doesn’t have a career outside of ‘Star Trek’. You retorted that ‘Jack Ryan’ doesn’t count … uh, just because, OK?
I have liked Pine in Unstoppable and Bottle Shock and think he pulls off Captain Kirk quite well. Looking forward to the new ST film and glad to see the franchise is back with some energy.
Pine was very likable in BOTTLE SHOCK. It’s too bad his character, as scripted, didn’t quite measure up, not to mention that awful wig they put him in.
Must admit I totally want Cumberbatch to win. I’ll be rooting for him throughout the film so I agree with S. Pine has zero charisma. Cant say I felt the same with the Avengers though. I got fed up of Loki’s manic grin.
I;d like to see Moffat and Gatiss add some more action into Sherlock. Cumberbatch can do it and likes it so why not.
Cumberbatch doesn’t even look like some crazy super-villain. He looks like some angry man who does his own revenge for some reason we don’t know.
I’m sure that they put that horrible wig on Loki in Avengers so that he won’t outshine those avengers. He lost all his hotness when they put that wig on him. But he totally outshine main hero in Thor.
Disgaree S The loki actor gave a shallow one note performance. He loves doing pr though so yes he gets plenty of press pr.
looks depressing. I remember when Star Trek was fun….and when Bond was fun….these days tentpole movies seem to be: choose your apocalypse, change the character names, watch the world explode. yuck.
I love Star Trek. I hate, hate, hate the fandom.
And I’m looking forward to this movie. Trailer promisses a good ride.
@Oliver I feel the same thing about Loki. Haha! That grin and ehehe laugh is just annoying and forced.
Looks and feels nothing like Star Trek. This is supposed to be Abrams’ revisionist version of Khan, Carol Marcus from Star Trek II? Cool to see the always excellent Peter Weller!
this is the real descent into darkness: the Michael Bay-ification of the original series.
Agreed.
It looks so generic you could literally slap any title you’d want on it, too.
Alice Eve…my, my god.
Frankly can’t remember anything that the rest of you are commenting about. I’m sure they’re all valid points but let’s keep our eye on the ball, people.
Alice Eve in her underwear is so out of place. Literally the Marketing guys… probably said it had to go in their despite it having no context in the trailer. Pretty funny.
Looks so exciting!!!Great villan!!!!!But the one i’m waiting to root for is Mr.Spock!!!!!!!!LLAP
Awesome action I love seeing the Enterprise fall from orbit into San Fran bay that is a really clever sequence. Looks like fun.
I want more LENS FLARES!!! [Slams fist down, smashes futuristic table-thing.]
I’m sorry, I thought that was a whole lot of meh.. the lens flare is there, over use of CGI.. Kirk is boring and everyone knows Kirk is an intergalactic pimp/gangsta..
Hopefully the next trailer will be better.
Could somebody, for God’s sake, tell me what part of this film is actually about Star Trek, exploration and boldly going somewhere?
Cavilld is right. It’s the Michael Bay-ification without substance again. It will make money. It will be big, but it will be forgotten immediately. It’s a money machine, I understand it, and for that, it will be successful, but for posterity, no one will be watching it 20 times over each year, like Khan, or Raiders of Lost Ark, or anything that has substance and means something, that emotionally connects with the audience.
Oh you silly boy, classic Star Trek is so yesterday. This is the new and improved Star Trek and they are going Into Darkness. Into Darkness! Don’t you understand how cool this is? Star Trek is just a popular brand name that we can use however we want to use.
That part with the girl in the underwear looks pretty cool.
I’m counting the moments until a fan comments something like:
“That underwear is so bogus! In TOS “Charlie X” we see Yeoman Rand’s bra straps and they are much thinner and clearly artificial like plastic and not made of fabric of any kind! Really, how can anyone watch this stuff that isn’t like the real Star Trek at all?!”
To boldly go…not very far from Earth. Boring.
Galactically boring. Dang it, i want to 1000 thumbs up this comment. Where is it?
