EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of signing on for the lead in the NBC drama pilot I Am Victor, John Stamos has been tapped for a major recurring role on the upcoming third season of USA Network‘s Necessary Roughness. He will appear in all 10 episodes of the show starring Callie Thorne. The gig keeps Stamos in the NBCUniversal family. He has been recurring on freshman NBC comedy The New Normal and is prepping for the network’s I Am Victor pilot. He will segue from the pilot to Necessary Roughness on sibling USA, wrapping his gig in time to return to I Am Victor if it gets picked up to series.
Stamos’ character on Necessary Roughness Connor McClane is a departure from the good, likable guys he usually plays. The founder of V3, a big global sports and entertainment management company, McClane sees Dr. Dani’s (Thorne) success with TK (Mehcad Brooks) and the New York Hawks, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get her into the V3 family. I hear USA went aggressively after Stamos and landing him for the role shows the network’s commitment to Necessary Roughness, which has not been among USA’s flashiest series despite doing solidly in the ratings. Stamos’ presence is sure to give the series extra attention going into Season 3.
Created and executive produced by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro and exec produced by Kevin Dowling, Necessary Roughness is co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Universal Cable Prods. ER alum Stamos, repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment, is coming off a Broadway run in The Best Man.

Damn! Stamos is the hardest working man in show biz since Sammy Davis Jr… NBC is finally making some good decisions!
LOL! Nice tribute to Mr. Davis Jr.!
0.4 is solid?
Liz & Craig don’t know how to run a show. This is there first year running the show alone. The first two years they had someone else running the show and they just wrote it. It takes a lot more to run a show than just writing. They’re gonna tank it.
Liz and Craig are awesome and have learned a lot as co-show runners. They won’t tank it.
And, Juno, the word you meant is: their. Seems you wrote your slag alone. And tanked it.
Juno, you’re entitled to your opinion, obviously, but I couldn’t disagree more. I have worked with Liz and Craig, and based on my experience with them I think they’ll be great. Have they “tanked” some series from seasons past I wasn’t aware of? At any rate, I’m betting they’re totally ready for this, and I wish them huge success.
Oh hell yea! Luv Stamos
Ah, the sad commentary of the fired writer.
I will enjoy watching John Stamos this season on NBC Nework
The new pilot “I am Victor”. I have a feeling it will be a great hit.
John Stamos is a great actor as well as a singer, I Know, I danced has he sang to me on my 24th birthday, The song was, “Devil in the blue dress”, I had the blue dress, but i must say I am not the devil, But lets see what kind of Mischief he can get himself into this season..:)
Best wishes
