Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) are back for the follow-up to the original 2010 pic, which made $48.1M domestic for Lionsgate. Kick-Ass 2, directed by Jeff Wadlow and now from Universal, also stars Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, leader of a band of self-made superheroes. It’s due for an August 16 release after the studio pushed back its original date a couple of weeks.

I loved the first movie; this looks even better. Jim Carrey looks absolutely fantastic in this too; almost unrecognizable. Can’t wait!
McLovin’ just got a new nickname. This looks GREAT! I’ll be there opening weekend for sure.
This looks so good. Wadlow is bringing it.
Might have to see this for Jim Carrey alone, although Chloe’s my girl.
The first one was overrated and I can’t imagine the subtraction of Matthew Vaughn for Jeff Wardlow would significantly improve things.
Seconded. Still shocked this got made.
You have no soul.
surprisingly not the first time I have heard this today.
Looks like a blast. Jim Carrey is sure lookin rough nowadays.
Beyond the hot body of Aaron Johnson, it looks like Chloë Grace Moretz steals the film (at least based on the trailer). That being said, it looks generic in a lot of ways and seems to be missing the energy that Matthew Vaughn brought to the first one.
It should succeed no matter what, but the revenge plot has been done to death and unless you have good written material and a kinetic director, all your going to end up with a bunch of people swearing (which is not clever or funny) and gore for gore sake.
cliche’ after cliche’ …… Jim Carrey’s schtick got old 4 years ago.
I hope this does well enough to justify the effort. This is a sequel that Lionsgate passed on. Lionsgate.
Hoping that Jim Carey is finally at that stage in his career where the stakes are down and he can use that insane creativity to start doing more and more truly wild stuff. looks cool, first one was lame but a better director might help here.
I think saying it looks good is a bit of an overstatement, but it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
I have a feeling this will be the most entertaining Jim Carey we’ve seen in years based on the trailer. Love what he’s doing.
A couple of weeks? More like a couple of months. It was slated for a June release.
word is there’s a very cool cameo by Robert Bookman as Magnetos’ erudite evil Twin
Hit Girl rules!
I just really hope Jim Carey doesn’t die. I didn’t see him in any parts other than that Asian gang fight
he doesnt die didnt u read the comics
There are always going to be people out there who think movies like this are lame. If you’re too mature for movies like this, then why even comment? I don’t know if I have ever laughed harder in a theater than, “Okay you cunts, let’s see what you can do now,” in the first one. If senseless violence and immature humor aren’t your thing, then this movie isn’t going to be for you. If you find a little girl swearing more than Ricky from Trailer Park Boys and pulling off kills that make Jack Bauer’s look like a child’s play, then you are probably as excited as I am for this.
I didn’t even see the first film, but this looks like a lot of fun. Smells like box office!
Yeah me too. I didn’t watch the 1st movie, but after watching this trailer, it makes me wanna watch the 1st movie so that I can follow what’s going on when i watch the sequel!
