Majandra Delfino has departed ABC’s comedy pilot Keep Calm And Karey On, from writer/executive producer Andrea Abbate, 20th Century Fox TV and 21 Laps/Adelstein. The project centers on Karey (Kelly Preston), the clean-nosed black sheep in a family of petty thieves, drug addicts, and narcissists. When her brother is sent to prison, she decides to raise his kids along with her adopted black son and give them the normal lives they deserve. Delfino was to play Kaerey’s sister Penny. Delfino is the third actress on an ABC comedy pilot to depart in the final stages of casting this season, joining Mercedes Masohn from Mixology and Mandy Moore from Pulling. In all three cases, the actresses were among the first hired in the projects, and, with casts coming together, the dynamic on the shows and some of the characters changed, leading to the exits. For instance, Delfino was cast long before Preston, who is older than the Karey character was originally envisioned and two decades older than Delfino.

The project’s plot sounds like a hack attempt to capitalize on the new Arrested Development return.

I was thinking more “watered-down Shameless”, but this will work, too.
I would have rather seen her as the lead instead of kelly preston.
That’s because networks are finally getting their heads out of their A*&$S and are hiring female comedians for funny roles. What a brilliant idea that they finally figured out. MANDY MOORE = NOT FUNNY and although I do not know this actress, I’ll be that she is a wonderful actress but just not a comedian. Make sense???
You’re ignorant. Comedian does not = good actor/actress. Look no further than Whitney Cummings and Chelsea Handler. Mandy Moore was brilliant in “Saved!” and “American Dreamz” (she and Hugh Grant were the highlights of an otherwise bogged-down film). She also did a great guest arc on “Scrubs.”
Majandra Delfino and Mandy Moore are actresses with comedic timing. They aren’t writing scripts, they are acting. In both cases, cast dynamics are the reasons why they were let go from their pilots.
Majandra is a wonderful actress and has great comic timing. You should see her on Roswell and State of Georgia.

Majandra dodged a bullet! This show could be some of the worst casting! Jane Seymor is British, Kelly Preston, who plays her daughter is American and the guy playing Kelly’s husband is 31 years old! Am I missing something here??? I smell a bomb!
