Blue Bloods has found a new temporary partner for Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). Marisa Ramirez (Against The Wall) has been cast for a five-episode arc playing Detective Maria Baez, who will be paired with Danny. The recurring gig comes with the possibility for Ramirez to continue as a regular next season. Ramirez’s first episode on Blue Bloods airs this Friday, and word of her casting started getting out as the network began to release images from the episode. Ramirez plays the third temporary partner for Danny this season, following a four-episode stint by Megan Ketch and a three-episode one by Megan Boone. They are filling the void left by the departure of series regular Jennifer Esposito who was put on an indefinite medical leave by Blue Bloods producer CBS TV Studios last fall and is unlikely to return to the show. Ramirez also recurs on ABC’s Body Of Proof this season.

Marisa is so talented..well deserved!
I liked her character on the show. I hope she becomes permanent.
I liked Esposito but never got use to the other partners until Marisa joined. As soon as she was cast in the role I liked her instantly. She just fits in well. She has an easy manner about her. And I also like her in Body of Proof. I was sure it was the same actress so I checked. Good for her – two gigs.

Amen to that – this one doesn’t have the chemistry either, and I don’t particularly like her. There’s just a coldness about her that I can’t put my finger on.
I watched blue bloods and thought for sure the new det. was Leah Ramini from King of Queens. But after googling and googling I found that the new Det. is a differet actress.. Marissa Baez. She looks exactly like Ramini,with those full lips and other facial features, except darker hair. I thought she was Leah, who maintained her great figure over the years and died her hair. Like a twin sister of Leah Ramini. She is a keeper for the show if you ask me.
I agree, did not like other partners. She worked well. I too thought it was Leah Ramini.Had to check on line and found out who she was. It is truly sad that Jennifer Esposito is not able to come back. Wishing her the best, because she had the perfect chemistry with Donnie. Good luck, a great show enjoy watching it and happy that they have got a permanent partner.
I miss Jackie….bring her back, CBS!! Shame on you for firing her. Jennifer Esposito is a very talented actress who didn’t deserve to be treated in such a way.
Jennifer Esposito wasn’t fired, nor was she treated badly. Jennifer did not want to work the number of hours required by her role. This may or may not have been due to her condition, but nevertheless, CBS could not bow to her will and make special accommodations for her. In terms of scheduling shooting dates, locations etc., this would have been inconceivable. And when she tweeted and bad-mouthed CBS, that was considered a power play, and it backfired on her. We all loved Jennifer, but she’s not coming back, and she is accountable for that as CBS.

I like the show but I am not happy with the change. I had hoped they would bring back Espisito! She is able to return to the show per her comments on an interview……what’s the problem CBS?????????

marisa is a great actress and she will probably be picked up next season. BLUE BLOODS scored big on this casting.

She has a disease they knew that when they hired her. She cannot help her illness and I feel CBS should have made accomadations.She proved her worth by doing well at her job……
Yes, she did her job extremely well (which nobody has been able to do since). None of the “replacements” have personality or chemistry, and Ramirez annoys me to the point where I don’t even care whether I watch the show or not; whereas I NEVER missed an episode while Jennifer was there.
Actually she might as well of been fired and its not that she didn’t want to work she was medically restricted by her doctor. CBS could of chosen to work with her like many other stations do instead of discriminating against her for being sick. This was not something that was her daily. And her speaking out against CBS was not a power play but an attempt to show something unjust that had been done!

It dissapoints me their is no loyalty with so many things in life!!! Bring Jennifer back and give her the same consideration that was given to Robin Roberts when she had medical issues. If it was proven she could not do the job, treat her with respect and work with her…. some day the decision making people may have health issues!! She did a GREAT job for several years and has proven her talents..

If your not bringing back Jennifer, then Marisa would be great for Blue Bloods. I know her work since I believe she was on Generall Hospital. Now your getting it. Bring her back as a regular next season. I would never stop watching because I watch because Donny is on the show.

I think the show is wrong in changing partners so many times. The first sub was completely fine. She should have been allowed to finish the season. All these changes are not popular with many people. And, Frank should stop making that face where he pulls in his lips in as scowl. I don’t think it looks good.The writing lately, for me, has been very uneven. Some weeks are really sharp, and others are terrible…
We in South Africa have not seen Marisa Ramirez in the Blue bloods series yet. She is good but we still prefer Jackie.
Really sad that the network has taken such a negative attitude with someone suffering with celiac or for that matter any disease, but I am really dissapointed with all the actors on Blue Bloods who apparently unlike there characters of being a strong family unit with good morals and dedicated to each other both at home and on the force did not come to Jennifers defense!!!!! No longer watch what used to be my favorite Drama….

She was the perfect match for Danny as a partner the chemistry was great, I don t know what the problem was but, if she really was that sick they could have tried to work with her , instead of treating her the way they did. Im disappointed in Tom Selleck and the other cast members for not sticking up for her, I think it is a pretty selfish attitude on there part , she nailed that part ,dead on no question.
I still watch the show but there is a big void in the the scenes with Donny Walberg and these new people they keep brining in as his partner.CBS really dropped the ball on on this decision….

This is the partner for Danny. Keep her please. She is better than any of them. The last two were terrible. The one who was his first partner and a regular on the show was good, but not as good as Marisa.

Like any other job, there are some restrictions that are not considered a “reasonable” accommodation. And…Jennifer is no Robin Roberts. She can be replaced. I’m not crazy about Marissa, but I wouldn’t stop watching the show because of her lack of chemistry with Donnie.
I think this new girl, Marisa, is great on Blue Bloods. I didn’t like Jennifer; too tough and too depressing. Marisa is perfect and just right!!! Please keep her.
