EXCLUSIVE: Mike Castle has landed the lead in NBC‘s untitled Robert Padnick/Greg Daniels comedy pilot, from 3 Arts and Universal TV. Castle replaces young New York comedian Josh Rabinowitz who was originally cast in the role but exited after the table read last week. The untitled comedy pilot, written by Padnick and directed by Kyle Newacheck, revolves around four hopeful city dwellers who step through the endless minefield of their romantic entanglements. It centers on the bright-eyed, good-natured and intelligent Hirsch (Castle). Ellen Woglom, Eric Andre and Adhir Kalyan play the three co-leads. Castle, repped by CAA and Principato-Young, is a young improv actor who has trained at UCB, ImprovOlympic and Second City Chicago. Coincidentally, this is the second year he joins a pilot in a recasting after the table read. Last year, he was cast in a co-starring role on ABC’s untitled Mandy Moore comedy.
