More than a year after the third cycle of The Sing-Off ended its run on NBC, the network has greenlighted a fourth cycle of the reality competition series for acapella groups hosted by Nick Lachey. Auditions are slated for April 27-May 18. The Sing-Off did solid business for NBC when it aired as a week-long strip in December 2009 and 2010, part of the network’s holiday programming. But when NBC slated it as a two-hour regular weekly series in fall 2011, it fizzled. NBC will likely revert to the show’s original format as a multi-night holiday event for Season 4.

I know some will criticise this, somewhat justifiably with NBC’s overreliance on reality, but it’s a good idea and I never understood why they cancelled it in the first place.
The show did very well during the holidays in its first two years. It just was never going to be an alternative to The Voice.

I was disappointed when it was stretched out for a full (half year) season. I LOVED it as a holiday event. I actually really missed it this Christmas! So pumped!

It was a great show with great talent, so nice to have it back. But it is definitely interesting how it didn’t do as well with the longer season.
If NBC wants to do better than Spanish-language television, they need something besides mindless bullshit.
Mr. Greenblatt and ALL his friends need to go back to Cable. They have no concept as to what broadcast television is. Broadcast television is not Cable, and never will be. Apples and Oranges, they are over paid fools. Really.
This is a good show. A family show.

Great news! Smart for NBC to bring it back! It’s a really great show and I really loved the Christmas episode from season 3.
NBC will have five weeks to fill between The Voice’s Fall cycle and the Winter Olympics. If they plan on bringing The Biggest Loser back in the fall (presumably Wednesdays 8-10), bringing The Sing-Off back for five Mondays and five Tuesdays is smart. Very smart. And it always did relatively well in limited runs, so this works perfectly. Smart move!
I’m so happy. This show is real music! The only singin show I enjoyed.
