UPDATE, 3:56 PM: The issue at WGA West headquarters has been resolved, I have learned. Whatever it was it was obviously not that big a deal — there was no evacuation of staff from the building. The police and fire department have left the scene.
PREVIOUSLY, 1:10 PM: The LAPD’s Bruce Borihanh says a call reporting a suspicious package at the building on West 3rd Street came in shortly after 11:15 AM today. He says no threats have been received, but the LA Fire Department and LAPD bomb squad are looking into the situation. Deadline has learned the activity is on the first floor of the building but there has been no official evacuation. I’ll update as I learn more.
Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

You just know it’s a spec script. Haven’t we been through this before?
I hear it’s a reality ‘script.’
Police have identified the package as an “original script”. On learning the contents of the package, the WGAW requested that the police still detonate it.
I wonder if it’s from Nickelodeon.
The Professor
Someone must have really hated that script. Tennis anyone?
Dammit. We all had the same joke, basically. I’m detonating this thread.
I hear it’s the sequel script to BURT WONDERSTONE.
Yes a script on how to pick a GREAT script for a pilot
suspicious package? i.e. a writer’s back pack full of beer and m & m’s.
come on, who would attack the WGA??? oh wait. everyone in this town!
It’s all the scripts from JANE GOT A GUN, now even the paperwork is walking off the project…
Must be some studio residuals checks.
That would be a strange and unusual package.
Suspicious Package? Did John Hamm stop by the building??!! Zinger!
This is why you should’t have a lawyer submit.
I came here to be punny only to realize I’d been beaten to the punch. I guess it was an obvious set-up. Bravo!
Please don’t destroy that package, we rep that writer.
So they suspect a bomb, but don’t evacuate anyone to safety? Doesn’t that describe studio filmmaking in general?
It had to be giant stacks of “Written By” the useless magazine the WGA publishes.
Sorry guys, I told my wife to “send in my dues” and instead she made a stupid decision without consulting me first. She’s a funny one that wife of mine, I love her, but I’ll kill her for this.
THE COMMENTS WERE HILARIOUS!!!
GIVE US MORE FROM THE WRITERS!!!
Karen Golden
Whole thing remains a mystery, but CAA nevertheless insisting on receiving a package fee.
Is it a really huge package? Then it must be Brian Walton’s golden parachute.
Maybe it was David Young’s huge contract.
guys it was me. I mailed myself in a package. I’m still stuck if you could help me
Stay in there. Call it performance art. When you get out you can write it up as a script. Then when Martin Scorsese directs the film, it will be a big hit and you’ll be famous and you can smile shyly when everyone applauds you coming out on the Tonight Show to tell Jimmy Fallon about your wild experience.
Josh Olson off his meds again?
Credit is still being determined. Naturally.
