Russell Cawthorne, who worked on dozens of Hong Kong movies produced by Raymond Chow’s Golden Harvest, died from cancer at a palliative care unit near his home in Melbourne on Sunday night. He was 70. Cawthorne worked as a copywriter for McCann Erickson International in Hong Kong before joining Golden Harvest Studios as senior VP international marketing in 1974. He stayed there for 25 years. He wrote the screenplay of the Golden Harvest produced documentary Bruce Lee: The Legend in 1977. He also had small roles in Lee’s 1978 film The Game of Death, the comedy Mai shen qi and Wayne Wang’s Chinese Box.
