It was not the best-kept secret that the outspoken (and out there) Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was being courted by ESPN — as well as every other network with NFL programming. Now they have a deal, a month
after he ended his 17-year career with a victory in the Super Bowl, and he is bringing his act to Bristol. Lewis, who signed with WME last summer before deciding to retire after this season, will contribute to ESPN’s football coverage and appear on Monday Night Countdown, Sunday NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. He also will be part of the traveling team to Monday Night Football games, reporting throughout the week on ESPN shows, and he’ll have a weekly segment on the Mike And Mike In The Morning radio show. “Ray is a tremendous addition to our NFL roster and he will have an immediate impact on our coverage,” said John Wildhack, ESPN EVP Production. “One of the most accomplished players in NFL history, fans will be drawn to his knowledge, experience and, of course, the passion he always exudes for the game.”

Is there no shame left?? Here is a man that was directly involved in the murder of two men, has six kids with four women and yet is treated like he is a god. What does someone have to do before they are untouchable by the media? This guy is a first class bum and networks are scrabbling after him like he is the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi. I am so glad I don’t pay for ESPN so my dollars aren’t going to pay an ass like Ray Lewis.
As long as he pays for the kids then who cares? If he’s a deadbeat dad then maybe ESPN might not want to hire him. But if the kids are taken care of then it is isn’t a problem for society.
As for the murders. The guys who died were gang members who were casing NFL players to rob them. They went to a club to rob NFL players on their way out. Ambush a drunk guy and take him for his money. Ray Lewis’s friends had no guns on them but had knives for protection. So they fought off the robbers with knives and killed them. You have two thieves with gang associations going against two drunks with knives. What did they expect was going to happen?
That wasn’t murder. It was self defense. Ray Lewis is a drunk loudmouth asshole for sure. But he has a right to be a drunk womanizing loser and not be assaulted or robbed. You can’t stalk the exit of a nightclub looking for NFL players to rob and not expect to get killed in retaliation. Lewis is not exactly an upstanding citizen. But murderer? Not at all.
As a Baltimore native who went to the Ravens first game at Memorial Stadium before they moved to their current home at Camden Yards, allow me to say, on behalf of all Baltimoreans, Mr. Duke of Earl, please HAVE A SEAT and never get up…
Ray Lewis is a hero in B-more and has done wonders for the city along with the rest of the two-time Superbowl Champion Ravens…regardless of what you think, the ink has dried and he will be the newest addition to ESPN…so go punch a tree or something to vent that anger becuz its unhealthy to hate hate hate so much.
My bad. I thought they were talking about another Ray Lewis not the one that cured cancer and healed the blind. Ray Lewis did jack shit and you know it. Just because he can tackle sombody doesn’t make him a hero. I am glad I will never see him or his douchey dance again. Hopefully he will learn to speak English before he starts!
Touche !!!!!
Just another reason not to watch ESPN
Judge not, lest ye be judged.
This guy sucks. There is not enough airtime in the day to accomodate his endless preaching about how great he is and what an inspiration he has been to his city and team. Remember when he killed people? Simpler days. Awful hire but completely predictable. go lions
I’m sure he’s gonna kill it…
All I can say is go Fox Sports 1! You think Murdoch would ever let them hire a murderer. Aside from killing people, the guy’s a complete nut. He’s liable to shank his co-host in the ribs.
Your comments are not only grossly incorrect, he did not murder anyone, and he is hardly a nut about to “shank” anyone around him, drama queen.
I guess ESPN has turned a tin ear to every football fan outside of Baltimore because this guy is seen as loud-mouthed, preachy and boorish. The only good thing to come out of the end of football season was Ray FINALLY going away
Well, he’s not going away, as you say, and outside of Baltimore the guy is just as big of a legend. Hate much?
Looking forward to some cutting edge commentary that slices through the b.s. and goes straight for the jugular.
Just vote your opinion with your remote…
These negative comments about Ray are obviously coming from brain washed zombie’s who have never met Ray and never will be in the postion too. Ray’s is one of the good guys and paid his dues for his troubles in the past. How many of you that judge him have ever helped anyone in your lives? Ray has and continues to do so regardless of the PR. so sit on your couch, judge, and hate. you’ll still be watching him on Monday night… mad.
