finally someone of Nolan’s older movies in the casting
Wow! Rebecca Hall beat out Emily Blunt and Rooney Mara for this role. I am proud of you lady.
Unbelievably bad casting. Lovely girl, but NOT a good fit for this key role. Following the great news about Depp & Bettany, my enthusiasm for this just took a major hit.
She is perfect for this role. The best option from the three (i’ve read the script, so i know what I’m saying)
And she’s playing Johnny Depp’s wife who’s almost twenty years older than her! Oh, how do I love Hollywood with their obvious sexism and ageism!
Emily Blunt and Rooney Mara are not hurting for work, but this is another example of it’s not what you know but who you know that gets you work in Hollywood. Rebecca Hall was known by both Pfister and Nolan during The Prestige, and even though she is clearly a weaker actress than Blunt and Mara, having those connections nabbed her the role.
I agree Hall is much weaker than the versatile Emily Blunt.
Blunt and Mara are just as overrated as Hall, boring actresses constantly the same names for the few women roles.
About 10 names who seems to get all the parts or chances on who they know and not on their acting skills.
Please cast actreses who really can act and bring something new and exciting.
“this is another example of it’s not what you know but who you know that gets you work in Hollywood.”
Connections are important IN EVERY PROFESSION, not just acting. Life isn’t the Olympics, where only the STRONGEST or FASTEST is deemed the best.
Great news I am sure she will give a great performance as she always does. Also @caro it is good to see Rebecca returning to the Nolan/Pfister stable I am a little surprised they bring her back for any of their earlier films.
I wish Emily Blunt got the part instead. However, I love Paul Bettany and Johnny Depp so i will still see it.
I for one love this casting choice. I can’t wait to see Hall in such a different role than anything we’ve seen her in before. Can’t wait to see what Pfister does with the material. He’s a class act.
Actually Rebecca Hall looks like a skinny version of Amber Heard which is kind of creepy they would cast like that. Hopefully just coincidence.
Mmm I do not much know. But I know Depp from some his film and youtube. I know Rebecca Hall from the film and youtube. She is great and smart. She fits on pretty, smart, and excellent-brain role. I love her.
