Fringe alum Seth Gabel is headed to another potential genre series with a co-starring role on the ABC drama pilot Gothica. Set in the present day, the project weaves together a mythology that incorporates the legends of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray. It centers on journalist Grace Van Helsing (Janet Montgomery) who takes over her family’s hometown newspaper. Gabel, repped by ICM Partners, Management 360 and Felker/Toczeck, will play Roderick Usher, the district attorney and heir to the once-powerful Usher family who is carrying secrets.

Another former Fringe co-star, Georgina Haig, and In Living Color alumna Kim Wayans have been added to CBS‘ drama pilot Reckless, directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Dana Stevens. The sultry legal show set in Charleston, South Carolina, centers on Jamie, a gorgeous Yankee litigator, and Roy, a Southern City Attorney (Cam Gigandet), who struggle to hide their intense attraction while clashing over a police sex scandal. Wayans, repped by manager Karen Forman and Patti Felker, will play Vi, Jamie’s paralegal. She took a dramatic turn in last year’s Pariah. Aussie Haig, repped by IFA and Sue Barnett & Assoc. in Australia, plays Lee Anne, a police officer in the Charleston PD.

I am crossing my fingers for Gothica to get the green light to series. Many people have been comparing this pilot to 666 Park avenue but there plotlines have only one thing in common and that is a supernatural theme. If people have to compare Gothica to a show,I would call the Dark seductive sister to Once upon a time because of there use of famous literary characters.
Couldn’t agree more. I absolutely loved the script! Fingers crossed!
Another obvious soap with ridiculous literary figures added. Seriously, ABC has enough terrible soaps and they don’t need another!
Apparently, ABC hasn’t gotten the memo/email that America keeps resending to them. We are not going to watch this BS. Check out this list of shit that has flopped and/or is flopping big time right now: Red Widow- DOA opened to a 1.4 demo rating; Nashville- also hovering in the low 1.0 to 1.4 demo area; Once Upon A Time- got a 2.1 Sunday and finished 3rd behind CBS flop, Amazing Race, and FOX’s The Simpson’s; Revenge hovering in the low 1.0- 1.5 demo range; and comedies, Happy Endings and The Bitch in Apt. 23; both at death’s door. Paul Lee is replacing DOA flops with more DOA flops. You never hear mention of the shows that actually sound like they could become big hits more than one time; the Shonda Rhimes comedy, the Shonda drama, the Steve Zahn procedural, etc. All the BS that has DOA written all over them just like, Red Widow, that’s the flop material Paul Lee keeps bringing to the table. What happened to the man from ESPN that was supposed to start supervising the production of dramatic material at ABC? Almost all of the comedies and dramas sound just like the shit Paul Lee is having to cancell right now. It doesn’t make any sense to keep repeating the same garbage year after year. Steven McPherson was fired and he actually brought a whole host of hits to the network that are still holding the network together today.
ABC is the soap and family comedy net much like CBS is all about cops, lawyers, and multi- cams. Anytime either tries to break said mode they fail. Lee has done a lot for ABC his first year he brought 4 hits. His second year he had a potential hit with Last Resort but scheduled it poorly same goes for Nashville which would have done better as counter programming in the Thursday 8pm death slot. What ABC needs is a better scheduler.
I hope ‘Gothica’ works out – it has an awesome cast. Terrific news on Gabel.
Glad to see Kim Wayans on a new show. She is extremely talented and is often overlooked.
