First off a note to future Oscar nominees — both nominees who hosted Saturday Night Live in the final phase of the Oscar campaign this year — Jennifer Lawrence and Christoph Waltz — went on to win despite their appearances on NBC’s late-night show stirring some controversy. Ratings-wise, after taking a dip with Waltz as host in its most recent original, SNL rebounded last night with host Kevin Hart and musical guest Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (4.8/12 in metered-market households, 2.8/13 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters). That was up 4% in households and 12% in 18-49 from the Waltz-hosted show. In 18-49, SNL matched the result of the January 26 episode hosted by Adam Levine.

Kevin Hart is the funniest comic out!! The next Eddie Murphy.
Fan of his work also. Have to say, slow down on the next coming of Eddie Murphy though.
The material was better but seeing Kevin Hart in his interviews are way funnier! He was great though
what was controversial about lawrence’s and waltz’s episodes? that jesus unchained bit? trick, pleez.
If SNL is proud to let this guy say G D twice and stupid S O B also they will lose some of us who prefer humor to a filthy mouth. This was the worst episode I can remember even minus the blasphemy. Liberal tv continues further down the road to reaching the audience they covet. It is a shame to waste the time slot. Very poor.
No wonder SNL passed on him before. He was awful.
Kevin Hart is one of the best comics today, but the SNL writers did him a real disservice last night. The material was terrible, and for his opening monologue it looked like they said, “We got nothing. Just do some of your act.”
You people must be plants. Kevin Hart had to be the worst SNL host ever. He messed up lines and his usual act didn’t work with SNL.
To compare Kevin Hart to Eddie Murphy is like comparing a McDonald’s Fillet-O-Fish to a 5-star restaurant’s pan seared salmon. NOT even in the same league at all. Hart’s monologue last night was painful to watch. His sketches were fine, though the SNL writing was pretty weak. He is of decent talent level, sure, but is not in Eddie Murphy’s league by a long shot.
Truly one of the most dismal episodes in SNL history.
(And this is coming from a longtime & continuing fan of the show.)
Worst ever. Annoying. So bad they had a callback to a BOMB.
Really bad episode and I kind of like Kevin Hart. Just wish he would stop saying “literally” and “like” in every other sentence too. Seemed like he was coke’d up throughout the show.
A chuckle here and there, but for the most part it really sucked. Really.
Agree with the negative comments. A real amateur hour and a half in all respects. Lazy writing. “Parodying” Shark Tank, they couldn’t even seat the sharks in the proper order & captured none of its tone. Post Wiig, the show has jumped the shark. Clean house next year.
People please Kevin hart is one of the best comics out there today, his stand ups are hilarious and he is always funny anywhere he is. Last night was not his best performance but can u people please stop judging people on the one time u have seen them!! And he has gotten much praise over the past few years even from comic greats like Eddie Murphy who say he’s one of the best right now so get a clue people
Seriously why don’t u actually watch the guy do stand up he’s one of the best
