EXCLUSIVE: Lost alum Terry O’Quinn is set as a lead opposite Ramon Rodriguez in Fox’s drama pilot Gang Related, from 20th TV and Imagine TV. Written by Chris Morgan, directed by Allen Hughes and exec produced by Brian Grazer, Gang Related centers on Ryan Lopez (Rodriguez), a gang member sent in to infiltrate the San Francisco Police Department. O’Quinn, repped by IFA, plays Sam Chapel, a tough, dynamic police chief who oversees the Gang Task Force. He replaces Tom Berenger, who was originally tapped for the role but exited after the table read. O’Quinn, repped by IFA Talent Agency, recently starred on ABC’s 666 Park Avenue and recurred on Hawaii Five-0 and Falling Skies.

I hate to be the guy who is all like, “That’s a step up!” because yeah, would’ve loved seeing Berenger.
But yeah, this is just as good.
Does the plot of this sound like The Departed to anyone else?
Infernal Affairs.
Yes!
Yes. Hence the past annoying comments making the same, dumb comparison
Too bad about 666 Park Ave, if it had survived it would have spared O’Quinn from taking roles in yet another boring ass cop show. Maybe this won’t go to series and he’ll find something better next year.
Just a note – the remaining 4 episodes of 666 Park Avenue are available to be viewed or downloaded online and ABC has also said they’ll air those last 4 eps this summer as well. I wish though the series could have gone into a season 2… The final episode of season 1 didn’t really clear up any of the mysteries of the season.
Definitely a step up! I wasn’t even interested in this•••now I am! This also sounds somewhat like Wiseguy, but,in the other direction. This pilot becomes more attractive because of Terry O’ Quinn. I’d tune in…
Now… it’s getting to sound like a good project that’ll just get better. Hope to see some ‘new’ faces given a chance to enter/re-enter the field of acting. The audience – like myself – is getting sooooo tired seeing the same old/young actors playing different characters on different shows on different networks/stations. Seems CDs no longer have the balls to submit new faces, have general interviews, meet actors with little experience to show potential etc. And the execs share the blame. In the last week I saw 3 leads, co-stars, guest stars each in different shows. How confusing! CBS & USA lead the crossings. Give the new guy/gal on the block a shot. We dare you.
I agree with HS. It does seem like all these networks have this little pool of the same few actors who rotate from series to series & from network to network.Just the same actors & the same type too-young male models types.I AM SO SICK OF THOSE! Look, this Terry O’Quinn pilot may fail/succeed,but,at least he’s not another young, model type. I’d rather watch Terry anytime than watch another male model type.
And.. again. Just saw NCIS on CBE 2. You know the actor that played the blond female casino manager in VEGAS’s gangster father who was shot dead by sheriff deputy? Well he was a solder on tonight’s show. Little pool of actors per Sexykitty’s comment is correct. CDs cast same people for many shows. Something’ wrong here & top bras don’t care!
And… More. On ABC’s Body of Proof yesterday, Wed., the Psychologist – played by actor (forgot first name) Cusick – who played the bad guy on The Mentalist, then another show, has more roles than he deserves. Talk about a ‘click’. like tey couldn’t cast different actors for those parts? Too much back scratching here with the CDs & those in charge. What gives?
HS-Cusick was also on CSI on CBS this season.
I hope this one is a hit for TOQ! He is such a good actor with great screen presence – this guy deserves a good show!
Gan banger going undercover in the police! Sounds like a fresh concept with a lot of room to go in many directions.
That “666 park ave” was a stinker cause they hardly utilized him (plus the predicable story didn’t help either).
