Jay Penske’s PMC, the parent company of Deadline Hollywood as well as the new owner of Variety, has finalized a deal to put the two news organizations in one headquarters, securing 50% of the space in the ING Direct building, located at 11175 Santa Monica Blvd in Westwood.
PMC’s new corporate headquarters will occupy four floors (including the top three) and will be completely renovated. One floor will include a full video production studio for news, a photo studio, and three green-screen rooms for PMC’s YouTube network ENTV as well as its other channels. What is unclear is an official move-in date for the new building, which is visible from the 405 just east of the freeway on the northeast corner of Santa Monica Blvd. Deadline is now housed at PMC’s corporate headquarters at 9800 S La Cienega Blvd in Los Angeles, where the media company occupies the entire top floor as well as newly installed video facilities on the lobby level. Variety is currently housed in the 31-floor skyscraper at 5900 Wilshire Blvd, atop which it planted its red signage in December 2008.

I hope you guys will play nicely!
THE ODD COUPLE
In other news, PMC announces open positions for full time onsite mediators.
That was a pretty dry report.
How do you FEEL about this, Nikki?
awkward.
Will a referee be needed?
This is now the Capital One 360 building. ING Direct was taken over by Capital One and that division was renamed Capital One 360 (as has the cafe at the ground level name also been changed to that).
Doesn’t Nikki friggin’ HATE Variety with every ounce of her soul?
I’m sure no one’s car will get keyed.
Thunderdome is looking upscale these days.
That is such an odd couple
What could possibly go wrong?
Nikkie you and Nellie have NOTHING to worry about, competing for scoops against the insipid Brian Lowery. This guy’s stuck in a time warp with his love of has been celebrities. He is so dated and not with it, I can’t believe Variety sticks with him.
It’s Brian LOWRY, although I’m trying to forget him.
Does this mean Nikki will come out of the shadows?
Make Nikki the editor of Variety.
An article about Deadline on Deadline. SO META.
Hilarious!
There should be a TV show about this. An Office spinoff perhaps?
Traffic over there is horrible. Good luck!
Talk about your mismatched roommates. Let the Wacky Shenanigans commence!
A recent UCLA study postulated a link between freeway exhaust and autism.
Not that these fine folks need anything else to think about, but…
Great way to boost morale at Variety.
“Hey guys, I know some of you are unhappy here, but I have some great news! Now all of you will have to deal with 405/10 traffic every day! You’re welcome!
“Hmm … I’m concerned by the lack of joyous outbursts at my last announcement. Of course, all of you are free to use the rooftop helipad. Raise your hand if you have a helicopter … … No one?”
We all know what the inevitable play is here. Just make it, Jay.
P.S. Love the comments about the need for full time on-site mediators.
Plenty of office space to share, the question is, will the entire Variety staff be moving there or just the select few since rumors are swirling with pending lay-offs. No move date has been announced….probably due to renovations, building a internal great wall to separate Deadline from Variety.
I once worked across the street at 11100 Santa Monica Blvd. Take it from me…the location sucks. Between the awful freeway and being located in a “dead zone” with two strip malls with terrible choices for food – it’s the worst. If however you like to watch morbid and horrific traffic accidents the 405 will provided endless entertainment.
