It’s clear even from this Japanese-subtitled, English-language version that producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski have endeavored to deliver a rousing popcorn movie with Armie Hammer as the title character and Johnny Depp as his spirit warrior partner Tonto. Whether they succeeded or not, we’ll find out when The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd in the U.S.

Yowser. Even in Japanese that looks like a stinker.
How can you say it looks like a stinker, really? It looks exactly like every other action adventure cranked out recently and some of them tank and some of them make billions and they all look exactly the same. Can YOU really tell them apart?
Ah,
You’re just a copy
of all the candy bars
I’ve ever eaten.
“Xerox Candy Bar” by Richard Brautigan
Hero.
I think it looks good and has a great look to it.
I have been hearing about this movie for so long that for a second, when I saw a new trailer poster, I thought it had already come and gone from theaters.
I like the guy at the end who says “Rone Langer.” Funny.
Can’t be the only one who gets a Jonah Hex vibe.
Can’t wait for this. Gore verbinski can do no wrong!
Except for PIRATES 2 & 3, THE WEATHER MAN, THE RING, THE MEXICAN, MOUSEHUNT…
Other than most of his films, sure, I guess he can do no wrong.
I’ll give him RANGO.
Excluding The Weather Man, all those films made at least twice their budgets. Moviegoers liked them, even if you didn’t:
Worldwide grosses were $2.734 BILLION vs $803 million budgets.
Not bad for the guy who started out making the first Budweiser frog commercial!
plus weather man is fantastic. and the ring was voted the best horror film of the last decade.
Looks BETTER than the original. Only wish I understood Japanese!

“Something very wrong with this movie…”
I can’t wait to see this. July is too far away for me!
If it’s good, it will be fine. And I hope it is.
If it’s bad, we’re talking John-Carter-stinker-money-loss-territory.
Agreed
Why is Disney opening this against Despicable Me 2? It will get crushed.
Maybe it’s a sacrificial lamb? To take some of the wind out of a rival animation studio’s sails? Otherwise it makes no sense.
This looks horrible.
How can you say that looks bad? The visuals look amazing. I don’t understand why anyone would make the movie in the first place, but not that they’ve done it, I think it looks particularly cool.
What’s horrible about it, specifically?
