Vin Diesel has posted this teaser on Facebook for the third movie featuring his Pitch Black character. Like that first film, it’s written and directed by David Twohy. It also stars Karl Urban and Katee Sackhoff as a mercenary who’s tracking Riddick. The Universal release is slated to open September 6th. Riddick asks, “You’re not afraid of the dark, are you?”:

riddick works when its about survival and vin being a badass. it falls fat on its face when it”s about him being king of the world. hopefully this one learned from the failure of the last over-bloated misfire.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!
As one of the five people who really enjoyed CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, I’m dying to see how they get him from the ending of the that to the new film. The 2nd RIDDICK played out on a rather epic canvas while the new one is, from what I gather, a return to the smaller-scale horror/adventure of the original PITCH BLACK. To nerd out even more, it would seem that Riddick can’t keep what he kills.
Six, Reggie, there are six people who really enjoyed that film. Most likely more. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if there were millions of us.
Seven, fuckers! I’m in.
Eight!
NEWSFLASH: at least 8 morons exist in the world!
@merranga — It takes a name-calling troll to spoil the party. You know, there exists a universe where someone can enjoy more than one kind of movie. In the past week, I’ve watched three documentaries, two John Ford films, and one French movie. (Sacre bleu!) That’s in addition to my enthusiastic viewing of this teaser for a Vin Diesel monster pic. I tried to inoculate myself against trolls and haters by saying I was “one of the five people” who enjoyed CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. But even that preemptive effort to admit the guilt in guilty pleasure couldn’t stop you from judging me a “moron” for liking one single solitary movie. Thanks for raining on our parade. I’ll make sure to temper my tastes more to your liking in the future.
Reggie, you, me, Chronicles rocked and Lord Marshal are the arbiters of taste here. I enjoy as wide a spectrum of films as you and my past week’s viewing has been just as eclectic, including ‘Hitchcock’ and psychos-meet-even-bigger-psycho-pulp-’em-up ‘No One Lives’. Some I watched for professional, others for personal reasons. Guilty pleasures are often the best and I have both time and respect for Vin Diesel as an actor and also, on the one occasion when I met him, a guy. This and the upcoming ‘Fast & Furious Insert Number Here’ will get my money.
“I’m dying to see how they get him from the ending of the that to the new film”
um they probably just start the movie
I really enjoyed both previous Riddick movies. Everyone I know that’s actually seen them has enjoyed them as well. The only Riddick hate I encountered was from one individual that admitted to never seeing the movies, but ‘heard they were horrible’.
They gave away the whole story!
Oh, now that looks cool! Too short, though!!!
Vin doing what he does best. My friends and I are so pumped!
Like that first film, it will be a steaming pile of crap. at least in the last one his ugly mug was made slightly better by animation and not seeing his actual face you forget for moments that he’s the worst male actor on the planet.
I don’t know merrrrraanga, he was pretty convincing when they pulled the blanket over him in Private Ryan.
ok, i take it all back.
I’m always up for a different scifi story. Gettin tired of the Treks, the Wars, Aliens, Hobbits, the MIBs, all superhero flicks, zombie movies, movies based on tv shows, toys, games or disney rides, hangovers, silly animation movies with hollywood voiceovers, horror flicks, rom-coms, books I’ve never even read, loosely based true stories, lame musicals, gangsta flicks, cop movies, fast and furious movies, Vin ……
hey wait a minute!
Reboot That!
well done, sir. well done.
Brilliant trailer and I can’t wait for it to come out.
I’m actually surprised the bigger conversation here isn’t about how Vin continues to market his movies directly to his fans more effectively than any other movie star via his 40 Million Facebook fans…
