Bryan Singer tweeted today that “the brilliant” Omar Sy of the French film The Intouchables has joined the cast of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Today’s news about Sy follows a stream of tweets from the director about other castings for the followup to X-Men: First Class including Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Hugh Jackman. Deadline also recently reported that Singer was keen on adding Peter Dinklage for a key role. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will also return as Magneto and Professor Xavier. Nothing concrete about Halle Berry yet, however.

The silence about Halle is deafening. She’s not only box office poison, but also an on set troublemaker.
The silence is because they haven’t closed a deal yet. Halle said this week that she’s 90% in.
Um, she is signed on. There’s a pic of her suited up.
Wouldn’t be totally against recasting Storm if necessary. What’s Naomie Harris up to?
What about Iman? She should’ve gotten the role from the start?
She’s too old. Get real.
Thandie Newton should have been Storm from day one.
I love Thandie Newton! However, if she’s not interested or unavailable, Rachel Luttrell would be perfect as well. She did a great job playing Teyla on Stargate Atlantis and she has a ethnic background similar to the character Storm so that might give her insight into Storm and how Storm’s values has been shaped by her culture.
I’d prefer if they recast Storm. Halle Berry is a very uninteresting onscreen presence. My pick? Emayatzy Corinealdi. Save her from the inevitable slew of bad holiday movies and Tyler Perry pics Hollywood boxes these incredible ethnic talents into!
What, is there only room for one token minority in the X-Men at one time? How about kicking that cracker Wolverine out instead??
Well, they killed the token black in the last X-Men film, so maybe Singer’s trying to let us all down easy.
Wasn’t he the only X-Men to die in that film?
Too many characters. I fell like it will be like in Last Stand. When they had countless number of new cool mutants, but they all had limited presence on screen. Because there were too many main characters and they all needed screen time.
And please no Halle Berry. Ironically but Halle’s career is in such hole right now that she is the one who should beg to give her role in new X-Men film. All her latest movies bombed. That new one – The Call will premiere at some 7-th place probably. And just like Jennifer Lopez with Parker – she takes those roles because nobody is offering her better. I wonder why she is not doing Indies like Nicole Kidman or Naomi Watts.
It happens with some actors who get old. Arnold, Stallone, Willis, Buttler – they all can’t Lead action movie to box-office success anymore. Same with Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Mendes, Halle Berry who can’t play 25-30-something young ladies anymore. Those roles are going to Hathaway, Lawrence, Portman, Kunis, Seyfried, Emma Stone now.
Not everyone can be like Pitt or Clooney. Halle should stick to being supporting character. She is at that position in her career when she has to beg for that Storm role. Because that’s how she will stay relevant in movie business. Now she is tabloid famous because of her scandals with daughter. But in movie business she has only name left. She can show up to Oscars to present but she has no offers for big or good movies.
Zoe`Salander`would`be`a`great`Storm`but`please`leave`Hugh`Jackman`in,`there`is`no`other`Wolverine!
Well let’s hope the brotha doesn’t die in the first reel, like in X-Men: First Class.
you should all be ashamed for trashing halle berry. she is not a nightmare. and she had the coolest hair from the x-men. dudes pay up.
please please more omar sy castings. this man is a brilliant talenr.
Kerry Washington would be perfect… Halle’s too old for the new cast, and yes, she really should be doing indies because she’s got talent and deserves better than another superhero movie. I think they’re fun, but in 20 years this period in Hollywood history is going to be looked at like the hair metal era in music.
Nona Gaye would be perfect…
Have you seen iman lately. She maybe 60 but looks ever bit of 35.
Funny how people here are writing off Halle as “too old” but Stewart and McKellen are senior citizens for God’s sakes. McKellen’s in his EIGHTIES.
I’m just over Halle period, age be damned. Overrated, played out. Tabloid baby-daddy drama a turn-off. Zoe Saldana has replaced her as the white boys’ on-screen plaything.
Thandie Newton as Storm, please. She’s too hot to be stuck in Tyler Perry movies.
Halle Berry was a bad casting choice to begin with, and if they want to jump ahead in the X-Men story and turn Storm into what she is in the comics – the leader of the X-Men with a mohawk and black leather outfit who can intimidate Wolverine with just a glance, there is absolutely no way Berry can pull that off.
Exactly, berry just doesn’t have the edge and the depth to be a convincing Storm. Actually one of the more unique characters in the series that got 0 attention. Hopefully its a recast.
