NEW YORK— APRIL 18, 2013— Award-winning producer, social justice advocate and co-owner of the St. Louis Rams, Chip Rosenbloom and NY Times best-selling author, entrepreneur and journalist, Dylan Ratigan are joining forces with award-winning director star and creator of MTV’s WORLD OF JENKS and author Andrew Jenks for an untitled documentary centered on the 2005 murder trial and controversial conviction, of college student Ryan Ferguson. Ferguson was convicted for the 2001 brutal assault and killing of Kent Heitholt, the popular sports editor for Missouri’s Columbia Daily Tribune. Ratigan and Rosenbloom will serve as producers on the project. Directed by Jenks, filming will begin immediately.

The documentary presents a revolutionary look into America’s judicial system through the prism of one of the past decade’s most controversial cases. Ryan Ferguson was convicted and has spent almost his entire 20s in prison based on the testimony of two witnesses, both of whom have now admitted they committed perjury. In the documentary, Director Andrew Jenks takes an unconventional and personal interest in Ferguson’s story and explores what happened to Ferguson by uncovering all facets of this riveting case.

“We are the same age, we look alike, we both love basketball. I feel like Ryan Ferguson and I grew up in the same house. I am going behind bars to really understand Ryan and what happened to him,” says Director Andrew Jenks.

Prominent social justice advocate, Chip Rosenbloom, initiated the documentary under his banner, Open Pictures, and brought on Dylan Ratigan, who he already works with on political reform targeting money in politics, as well as, Ratigan’s national roll-out of “ArchisAcres” creating veteran jobs, feeding American communities. Rosenbloom, Executive Producer of the recent Halle Berry hit thriller THE CALL, and the family classic “Shiloh” trilogy, and the Sundance winning documentary FUEL, is also known as the co-owner and vice-chairman of the St. Louis Rams. Noted “truth to power” journalist, author of New York Times Best Seller “Greedy Bastards,” former MSNBC host and Bloomberg L.P. Executive Dylan Ratigan brings 20 years’ worth of aggressive, truth-seeking investigative, print and broadcast journalism as an executive producer of this project.

Jenks, whose work includes the acclaimed HBO documentary ROOM 335, the ESPN film THE ZEN OF BOBBY V, and the award-winning MTV WORLD OF JENKS, in its second season, has made a career vividly capturing the lives of those in a nursing home, the homeless, to his current series documenting young people with cancer, autism, and gang violence. He recently released his first book, “My Adventures As a Young Filmmaker.”
