EXCLUSIVE: Lenny Cooke, from director brothers Joshua and Benny Safdie, premiered last night as part of the Tribeca Film Festival‘s Viewpoints section. The documentary tracks the unfulfilled destiny of Cooke, who in 2001 was the most hyped high school basketball player in the U.S. – ranked above future greats LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. A decade later, he’s yet to play a minute in the NBA. The film, which asks the question “What went wrong?,” received a standing ovation on Thursday night. Here’s the exclusive trailer:
