PALO ALTO, CA – Motion Picture Laboratories, Inc. (MovieLabs) has introduced John Carney as its new President and CEO. Carney is a technology industry leader with more than 25 years of experience in software systems and product development. As President and CEO of MovieLabs, Carney will oversee research and development aimed at continuing to expand and diversify the ways audiences can watch the movies and TV shows they love. Prior to taking the helm at MovieLabs, Carney was Senior Vice President of Engineering at Comcast, where he defined and led multiple complex operations and technology projects. He also established the West Coast office of CableLabs, the cable industry’s research and development consortium dedicated to pursuing new technologies. Before that, Carney served as President of TVWorks, a joint venture between Comcast and Cox, where he launched a new ecosystem for interactive television. He was also the co-founder and CTO of MetaTV, an interactive television software company.
