Laggies is the dark comedy directed by Lynne Shelton that now has Keira Knightley attached alongside Chloe Moretz and Sam Rockwell. Also getting some of this first cash is the John Travola heist pic The Forger that Solution is producing and co-financing with Code Entertainment. Here’s the release announcing the new fund, which is the latest tie-up between the Siren and the Solution who already have a genre sales label together called Synchronicity among other partnerships:

Siren Studios, a rapidly growing creative hub for entertainment production, and The Solution Entertainment Group (The Solution), the production, financing and international sales company have completed the financing on a new multi-year $50 million revolving equity fund to finance the development and production of the partners expanding slate of feature films and television product, it was announced by Siren’s Craig Chapman, Brandon Nutt and Kyle Jackson and Myles Nestel, co-founder and partner of The Solution.

Both companies already enjoy a far reaching strategic partnership that includes physical production, post production services and joint ownership of The Solution’s genre sales label called Synchronicity. The launch of the initial $50 million fund raised from institutional capital and private equity investors by Nutt and Jackson, closes the loop on both companies business plan to be a one stop studio covering film production, sales, and financing.

“When Lisa Wilson and I launched The Solution in 2012 one of our goals was to be a one-stop finance, production & sales operation,” says Nestel. He continued, “The partnership with Siren Studios on this new fund opens the doors still further to those ambitions and our aim to be a 21st century approach to the old studio system.”

“Siren has spent the last 8 years delivering on production, and more recently post production services, for some of the industry’s top talent. Having acquired and developed over $50 million of studio infrastructure in the heart of Hollywood, the fund was the last piece to truly become a force in the paradigm shift happening in entertainment,” says Chapman.

The first film fully financed and produced under the fund is the romantic comedy LAGGIES. Produced with Anonymous Content, LAGGIES is directed by Lynn Shelton (YOUR SISTER’S SISTER, HUMPDAY) with Keira Knightley (ANNA KARENINA, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise) in talks to star with Chloe Moretz (CARRIE, HUGO) and Sam Rockwell (MOON, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS). With a June 2nd start date on location in Seattle, LAGGIES is written by Andrea Siegel and tells the rollercoaster tale of Megan (Knightley) who, dodging her boyfriend’s proposal of marriage, heads off for a week of high school antics with her young friend Annika (Moretz) but is forced to navigate her future when she becomes attracted to Annika’s father (Rockwell).

LAGGIES producers are Anonymous’ Steve Golin, Alix Madigan-Yorkin and Rosalie Swedlin alongside The Solution’s Myles Nestel, and Siren’s Craig Chapman and Kyle Jackson. Executive producers are Siren’s Brandon Nutt, The Solution’s Lisa Wilson and Anonymous’ Paul Green.

Lisa Wilson commented on the announcement of LAGGIES, “With our sales slate so far, The Solution has brought significant new titles to the marketplace that are satisfying the buyers’ needs for strong theatrical material. LAGGIES is another step in that right direction with a cast that is a super mix of commercial appeal with award winning quality.”

Also co-financed under the fund alongside Code Entertainment (Code) is the newly announced heist thriller THE FORGER starring John Travolta. THE FORGER is set to start shooting in August 2013.

Code’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso will produce THE FORGER, along with Prospect Park’s Rob Carliner. Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel are executive producers with The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson. Anson Downes and Linda Favila will serve as Co-Executive Producers. Siren Studio’s Craig Chapman, Kyle Jackson and Brandon Nutt are also executive producing the film.

Written by Richard D’Ovidio THE FORGER tells the story of a former child art prodigy and second generation petty thief, Ray Cutter (Travolta) who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, only to be forced to change his plans and commit one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.
