The second week of ABC Family’s The Fosters saw double digit growth for the new Jennifer Lopez produced drama. The 9 PM show about two lesbian moms raising a biological son, adopted twins and two foster children was up 20% in total viewers to 1.70 million. It was also up 10% among Adults 18-49 to 480,000 and surged 36% to 977,000 among its target demo of viewers 12-34 from its June 3 premiere. Things were not so rosy for its lead-in. After a midseason spring finale on March 11, Switched At Birth returned on Monday for the rest of its second season down hard. The drama declined from both its Season 1 break return last year and its Season 2 premiere earlier this year.  Compared to its Season 1 return on September 3, 2012, Switched At Birth was down 26% in total viewers to 1.661 million and down by 24% in the 12-34 demo to 835,000. The comparison to its Season 2 debut wasn’t anywhere near as harsh. In relation to the 1.697 million total viewers and 866,000 viewers among the 12-34 demo that its January Season 2 premiere garnered, the show dipped just 2% and 4% respectively last night. Season 2 of Switched At Birth wraps on August 12, 2013.
