The 87-year-old wildlife broadcaster is expected to produce a large-scale natural history series for BBC1 before his 90th birthday, BBC’s head of science and natural history Kim Shillinglaw tells RadioTimes.com. The BBC is keeping the subject matter and other specifics under wraps but Shillinglaw says the series will be along the lines of Frozen Planet (2011) and Planet Earth (2006) and will air in the next 2 to 3 years. David Attenborough also is in line to produce a smaller-scale series about animal evolution for the BBC later this year, according to the report. Attenborough most recently partnered with the BBC on his Africa series, which aired early this year.
