Comedy writer-producer Dana Klein has signed a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind her midseason CBS series Friends With Better Lives. The pact follows two projects by Klein for 20th TV that received pilot orders in the past two years, Daddy’s Girls, which came close to a series order at NBC last year, and Friends With Better Lives, both executive produced by Aaron Kaplan. Under the overall deal, Klein will work on Friends With Better Lives, on which she serves as executive producer/showrunner, while also developing new projects. After two successful development cycles, the decision to enter a long-term overall agreement with Klein was an easy one, 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. “She has a great voice, she is incredibly funny and very open to collaboration, people love working with her,” he said. “The process of developing scripts with her has been a pleasure and yet she has a strong point of view.”

Klein, repped by UTA and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum, previously worked as a supervising producer on NBC’s Kath And Kim and a consulting producer on the WB’s Twins. Additionally, she spent three seasons on Friends, working her way up the ranks to supervising producer.·
