Viacom International To Launch MTV Brazil
Viacom International Media Networks is expanding its presence in Brazil with the launch of a new MTV channel on the country’s Pay TV platform. MTV Brazil will deliver more than 350 hours of local programming spanning daily formats, celeb realities, sitcoms, music, extreme sports and adult animations. The cable network will also debut formats from Viacom’s international content portfolio with local versions of World Stage, Guy Code and Pranked, in addition to other MTV global content in Portuguese (Snookie & Jwow, Ridiculousness and Awkward). The new channel will debut in October across key cable operators in Brazil.

Nigeria’s ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ To Open TTFF
The Nigerian drama Half Of A Yellow Sun has been selected as the opening film of the 2013 trinidad+tobago film festival. Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in the adaptation of Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s best-selling novel of the same title. Set in 1960s Nigeria, the story brings audiences into a country torn apart by civil war and shows how the interwoven lives of four central characters intersect during a struggle to establish an independent republic of Nigeria. Biyi Bandele directs. The festival runs from September 17-October 1.

MIPCOM Honors Jeffrey Katzenberg
DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has been named MIPCOM 2013 Personality of the Year. Organized by Reed MIDEM, MIPCOM will take place in Cannes, France, from October 7-10. “Jeffrey Katzenberg’s outstanding impact on the entertainment industry is internationally recognized, as he has brought exceptional films, both live-action and animation, to millions of people around the world. The acquisitions of Classic Media and AwesomenessTV, the recent groundbreaking deals with companies including Netflix and Super RTL, and DreamWork Animation’s continuing expansion into the television world, all demonstrate his clear vision of the future of entertainment,” said Reed MIDEM CEO Paul Zilk. Katzenberg will accept the award on October 9 during a dinner for industry executives at the Carlton Hotel.

‘Pulp’ To Debut In Australia & New Zealand On Xbox Video
Comedy feature Pulp will premiere in Australia and New Zealand on Xbox Video on Tuesday.The roll out follows Pulp‘s premiere on Xbox Video in the UK earlier this year. Directed by Adam Hamdy and Shaun Magher, Pulp is set in the world of comic book publishing, mixed with international crime and geek heroes. The deal was brokered by Pat Nelson of SyndicateWorks.
