British actor and comedian Mel Smith, best known for the TV series Alias Smith And Jones and Not The Nine O’Clock News has died. His agent Michael Foster tells BBC News that Smith died Friday of a heart attack at his London home. He was 60. Smith and his comedy partner Griff Rhys Jones founded Tailback Productions which became one of the UK’s largest producers of TV comedy and light entertainment. Their shows included Da Ali G Show, I’m Alan Partridge and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Smith’s feature film credits include The Princess Bride and National Lampoon’s European Vacation.
