Dogwoof Global has boarded international sales on Madeleine Sackler documentary Dangerous Acts Starring The Unstable Elements Of Belarus. The deal follows HBO Documentary Films’ acquisition of U.S. TV rights earlier this week. Sackler’s film is a behind-the-scenes look at the Belarus Free Theatre as the troupe struggles to stage imaginative, thought-provoking pieces under a repressive regime. Dangerous Acts screens Monday September 9 as part of Tiff Docs.

Danish producer Zentropa has added cast to The Absent One, the second installment in Mikkel Nørgaard’s Department Q franchise. Based on the books by Jussi Adler-Olsen, the franchise kicks off with The Keeper Of Lost Causes which bows in Denmark on October 3. As previously announced, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and and Fares Fares are reprising their lead roles for the sequel. Joining them are Pilou Asbæk (A Hijacking, Borgen, The Borgias) and David Dencik (Serena, The Borgias). The franchise is adapted for the screen by A Royal Affair‘s Nikolaj Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg. TrustNordisk will start presales on the film in Toronto. Shooting starts September 23rd.

Fortissimo Films has closed a deal to handle all worldwide rights outside North America and South Africa on Donovan Marsh’s iNUMBER NUMBER. Marsh’s 4th feature (whose title is Tsotsi-taal slang for “pulling a number”), is an ensemble action/heist thriller. Indigenous Films is releasing in South Africa in early 2014. It world premieres in the Contemporary World Cinema section at Toronto. North American sales are with XYZ Films.
