Summer has come to an end and so did Season 3 of Extreme Weight Loss (1.2/4) last night. True to its name, the ABC reality show saw this year’s winner drop a record-breaking amount of weight, losing half his poundage. On the other hand, the 8-10 PM finale remained even with last week’s show and the 1.2/3 of last year’s 9-11 PM season ender on August 19, 2012. In terms of viewers, last night’s season finale got the best numbers since this year’s debut May 28 with 4.1 million tuning in. It was up 11% from the viewership of last year’s finale. Overall, this season of EWL has essentially been on par with Season 2 among adults 18-49, both of which were down from Season 1.
It was week 2 of the semifinals on America’s Got Talent (2.3/7) last night. The live one-hour show had Howard Stern in a three-piece suit and tie, host Nick Cannon in an unusually understated tux and another dozen acts trying to make it through to snag that $1 million prize and a headlining spot performing in Las Vegas. The most watched and highest-rated show of the night, AGT bopped up 5% from last week’s Tuesday series low. NBC took the top spots in both the demo and viewership with a 1.9/6 and 7.119 million watching, respectively. Univision was No. 2 among adults 18-49 on Tuesday with a 1.6/5 with an all repeat CBS was second in viewership with 6.968 million watching.
Tuesday wasn’t the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance (1.3/4) but it was close. The live two-hour show was the last performance show of SYTYCD’s 10th season and the remaining four strutted their stuff for Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy plus guest judges Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas and the always dependably kooky Paula Abdul. Ratingswise, SYTYCD was even with last week’s show but did see a slight 2% rise in viewers to 4.1 million watching.
The CW had an original Whose Line Is It Anyway? (0.9/3) on at 8 PM and a new Capture (0.3/1) at 9 PM. The former was even with last week while the latter dropped 25% from its August 27 airing to hit a series low.
