ABC has put in development two half-hour project from ABC Studios-based pods: Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, from Temple Hill and writers Chrissy Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein (Cougar Town), and Related, from Mandeville and writers Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse (Parental Guidance).
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is based on the book by Jenny Lawson. Pietrosh and Goldstein executive produce with Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and Michael Prevett. This is the second sale at ABC this season for Pietrosh and Goldstein, who have an overall deal at ABC Studios. The ICM Partners-repped duo also are writing a comedy for Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. Lawson is with Neeti Madan.
Related is a multi-cam comedy based on real life of writers Addario and Syracuse who are married, and their younger siblings are married to each other as well. The fictional families are neighbors in a working-class New Jersey community where the saying “it takes a village” takes on new meaning with shared mothers-in-law and unique family loyalties. Mandeville’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks executive produce, with Addario and Syracuse co-executive producing. Mandeville is with UTA and Hansen Jacobson. Addario and Syracuse, repped by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone and Ken Richman, are currently writing Who Gets Bob for CBS Films and Walt Becker, as well as an untitled comedy with Billy Crystal attached to star and produce and Andy Fickman attached to direct. Mandeville also has Esmeralda, a limited/event series written by feature scribe Evan Daugherty, in development at ABC.
